Dinner: what did you have?

Featured Replies

Friday - My cousin fixed roast pork, broccoli, beans, corn, and cole slaw.

Saturday - Flipdaddy's: Prosciutto wrapped asparagus and stuffed mushrooms for the appetizers, then The Colossus in a lettuce wrap with the Flying Wedge for the side.

Sunday - My cousin's husband grilled steak and chicken, while my cousin roasted veggies and baked sweet potatoes. Mrs. S sauteed up some mushrooms.

Last night - A Cobb Salad at O'Charley's. They've closed all but 2 of the O'Charley's in Florida. The O'Charley's that was on US 19 in Palm Harbor is a Lucky Dill Deli, now. There is one in Orlando and one in Jacksonville.

Threw some chicken breasts in an oven pan with some fresh cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, and diced potatoes. Put a tiny bit of melted butter, some salt and pepper, and Italian dressing on top and threw it in the oven.

Been on the road forever it seems. Big dinners, many drinks, etc. So Friday night I'm back in town and it was scallops at Knotty Pine, Saturday was a BLT and Sunday night was steak at Walt's.

So finally last night I heated up the stranger on the back porch and grilled chicken. I missed the grill. Simple chicken with a little Cajun spice and threw some Brussel sprouts with bacon on next to them. Mrs. TAC made some rice and sautéed mushrooms.

So simple but it really hit the spot.

She has a meatloaf in the crockpot for tonight. Home cooked meals! Yummy!

Do you mind sharing the recipe for crockpot meatloaf? Sounds awesome!

Tuesday - We had dinner at Blinkers, with RTS and his better half. The special was a 10 oz NY Strip. I sided it with salad, broccoli, and roasted Brussels sprouts. I really like that place.

Last night - In Noblesville, Indiana at another cousin's home. They grilled up chicken, vegetables, and sweet potatoes. Added green beans, mac and cheese, and had peach cobbler for dessert. I only partook in the chicken, roasted veggies, and beans.

Well it turned out a little mushy, but the flavor was good.

I'll send you a PM

I've never gotten into the Cuban. Had it in Miami and Ybor City so I've had authentic. Just doesn't do it for me.

Always liked it. Introduced to the concept in Florida way back in the day.

Also had bacon-wrapped chorizo as an appetizer. A bit pricey for the portion but tasty nevertheless.

I'm with you. It's not that it's not a perfectly good sandwich...it's just not something that I'm really "into". I'd take a reuben any day over a Cuban.

Pops...your first time having Havana Rumba?

On the GT sandwich board a properly done Cuban checks in at a strong #1 ...

Portillos Italian beef just outside Chicago

Had to go back to Cleveland this week. Stopped and ate with a friend in Covington. He took us to the Forte Wright restaurant. I love little places like that . Good food and not expensive. I had the home fries. It was a plate full of homemade fried potatoes. They were sooooo good. Men had omelets.

While in Cleveland we ate at the Winking Lizard again. My husband had not eaten there. I love it. I had the steak asparagus salad again and it was wonderful. Hubby and Vinny had burgers and fries. As a appetizer we had spinach dip. It was one of the best I have ever eaten. If you go there try it.

Made "Stuffed Pepper Soup" in the crock pot last night. Really solid. Having leftovers for lunch today.
