January 11, 201412 yr What counts as a "smoker"? I'll have a cigar or a pipeful from time to time but it's nothing regular. Only smoked a handful of cigarettes in my entire life and never really enjoyed them... Parliaments... the cheap cigarette of choice for Dayton undergrads.
January 11, 201412 yr I've never even take a puff of a cigarette. On a similar note, I've probably only had 3 very small sips of coffee in my entire life.
January 11, 201412 yr I was a 20 year pack a day guy until Dec. 12, 2000. I smoked half of 1 cigarette in May, 2001 and got sick. I have had no desire to have another one since then. I also used to smoke the occasional cigar but since getting off the cigarettes those nauseate me as well.

January 11, 201412 yr I watched my dad die of lung cancer when I was 9. He smoked Lucky Strikes like it was his job. Fast forward 34 years, I watched my mom die of lung cancer. She never smoked a day in her life but spent most of her time sitting in an Elks Lodge where the smoke was so prominent, there was always a layer of smoke floating like clouds in the air. Needless to say, I have never smoked cigarettes and never will. Secondhand smoke will kill just the same. Please do not smoke in your homes or cars in you have children or loved ones living with you.
January 11, 201412 yr What is the price of an individual pack of cigarettes now? A carton? How many packs in a carton? I saw them at $7 a pack at the local convenience store last week. Cartons are $55 to $65 each, down here. The way I used to smoke, I'd have to have one job just to support the habit. I unusually went through a minimum of 2 cartons a week. I'm glad I quit when I did, November 22, 2004.

A pack was barely over a buck when I quit. It's insane what people pay for a pack these days.

January 13, 201412 yr I smoked for 11-12 years, smoked my last cigarette on Sept 20th, 2004. I've never been a big on dipping but would always dip during hunting season. Last season was my last. A guy I know, played softball with/against, (33years old) was diagnosed with esophageal cancer about 3 years ago. He died last year. Scared the crap out of me and haven't touched it since.
