I don't think it has. Like someone said it comes in waves. Truthfully, I enjoy seeing scores posted on here and reading the threads more than posting my comments on them. I've always been a big fan of the small Class A schools that are spread out over the state and enjoy reading up on them. I've grown up in the 10th Region, but have come to follow some schools from the 7th, 9th, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th Regions. All of those other schools are Class A schools.

Re. the "diminishing of rivalries".

 

Has AAU roundball knocked some of the luster off of high-school basketbal, thereby lessening the rivalry factor?

 

Is is just that folks have many more entertainment options than they did a generation ago?

Augusta gets a ton of love on BGP. Aren't they a small school?

 

Augusta is a very small school but they have had a few basketball players become stars along the way.

 

The thing I always found interesting since moving from Cincy is fact NKY doesn't have regular conferences. In Cincy you have the GCL , GMC, CHL, to name a few. These teams are your rivals and you play them in all sports in a home/home format and battle for league title in all sports. I assume maybe just not enough teams to do this so they do the divisions instead in NKY

Forgive me if it has been mentioned, but I feel like it is in large part being sent to the second page and maybe not viewed or discussed as often because it seems like we have a ton of Prediction Threads and Contests. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, but it pushes threads that one to the second page very quickly.

Under "My Settings" on left, select "General Settings"

 

About halfway down page, under "Thread Display Options", select "Number of Posts to show per page"

Select 50 posts per page

In some cases you have a strong alumni base that follows their school with a passion, Cov Cath, NCC, Highlands, Beechwood, etc. Others, you have sheer numbers following them, Ryle, Cooper, Simon Kenton. Then, you have the Holmes crew, by virtue of being good, everyone wants to know what is happening with them. If a school gets a great player, the interest will follow. If you don't have any of these qualities, the interest is not there. My take...BTW, Boone County will soon fall into a lesser followed team, based on redistricting. More probably follow Ryle Cooper or Conner now than 5-10 years ago. (Obviously Cooper is new)

I think it's a little of both, but the latter is more of a factor in my eyes. Also a factor for going to games is the fact that you can see so many streaming, etc., and without as many fans there who instead opt to sit at home and watch online, the atmosphere loses its luster.
