13 rebounds for Burns!

I thought that Chames and Hill's length frustrated Burns inside and Holmes was able to guard Trentman on the floor with some length. Burns resorted to a lot of flopping in the post. Not many teams are going to be able to guard Trentman on the perimeter but I thought Holmes did a nice job on Trentman and contested his shots.

I agree with Clyde, Brossart is pretty right hand oriented especially Burns.

As stated Holmes is able to generate a lot of ball pressure and McClendon has been the catalyst on defense for Holmes in the games I have seen them play.

Tough game to officiate and it did seem to get a bit chippy early. Brossart is a rugged physical team that uses their hands to grab and hold and steer offensive players and they like to be physical with cutters and bumping in the post. Holmes is quick and likes to get into your body especially in dead ball situations and have very active hands.

Bolden probably played his best game of the year and was scoring. His best move of the game was when he was on the perimeter and he gave the Brossart kid a quick ball fake left and the defender went for it and he drained a jumper.

With all the accolades that will be coming his way, the most improved player for Holmes is Chames. Active on the glass and he had long arms which allows him to alter shots.

Brossart will win a lot of games and Trentman is a really nice player.

Brossart is always tough defensively but there is nobody on their roster that can deny him the ball, I am sorry.

 

You double him and let someone else score 20, dont let him get 37. You have to be physical with him as well like the downstate guards were in the tournament. With that said, he probably still would go for 15/18 with a double team. The kid is the most highly touted prospect up here in a long long time.

I haven't noticed anyone commenting on Trentmans shot to end the first half. Brossart inbounds the ball with under 2 seconds and throws a lenght of the court pass to Trentman who hits a 3 from the corner while fading out of bounds (behind the basket). A nice play on a difficult night for the Mustangs.

 

A couple of other notes not mentioned here, but interesting to me:

 

- Code went off on one of the refs just before half and it ended with something along the lines of "our kids will not take that" being yelled by Code at the official. The yelling was loud enough to be heard in the stands. Guy I was with noted that the comment seemed to backfire as the refs responded with a quick whistle to start the 2nd towards the Mustangs.

 

- Also we had another Mike Listerman being Mike Listerman moment. Simiilar to the regional game last year, to end the first after Code had his time with the refs Mike took it upon himself to have his say as well. Interesting.

It has to be great for Coach Booher to have someone on his staff like Listerman making sure nobody gets the upper hand in any way shape or form with all of his previous experience. What a team. Would love to have a guy like that on my staff.

I'll go with Mr. Miller of Brossart and his staff that verify the stats by watching the video, which by the way, is taken by a former ICN videographer. That is unless you can convince me that 5+13+4 = 21 and no one else on Brossart had a rebound last night.

Did he really play all 32 minutes? Weren't they up 20 going into the 4th and maintained that margin throughout?

Brossart is a tough team...even with a 20 pt lead, I don't think Booher felt comfortable til Glover threw that oop to Chames for the dunk with around 2 mins left to put them up 21 or 23.

Two really good teams going at it early....Holmes is clearly one of the State's top teams without doubt. I'm sure Coach Code will use this game to build on.

Bolden is a one of a kind player. Best I have seen in a while. Created shots on offense and havoc on defense. Chames is a great leaper, how many of his points came on offensive put backs? I expected the game to be a little closer. Brossart bigs are a handful. I was amazed by Trentman. I've always been a big fan of his but he is so much better than he was last couple of years. The shot he made at the end of the half was unreal. He also had an offensive rebound where he came from nowhere and did a spin move to grab it and than hit the shot. Holmes did a great job defending him and "holding" him to 20. A big kid that sinks the 3's, runs the court, looked as fresh in the first minute as he did in minute 32. Big motor, complete player. He should be in the top 5 in NKY.

Holmes is going to be a tough match up for NCC. Their bigs play bigger than they are and guard play is of course superb. I've not seen Cov Cath but would think they may not match up as well with Holmes?

Good game, gym looks great. The fog and spot lights prior to game are a nice touch.

Thought the trey right before half might ignite BB in the third quarter, but it didn't. Noticed that BB was playing its third game in four days, so that probably factored into slow second-half start as well.
