You won't be disappointed. I know I'm stating the obvious but they are REALLY good. Deep, athletic, quick, and strong at every position. They flat out get after it on D.

Heard that Burns had a good game.

 

Burns played well. Battled. Same with Trentman. Brossart's sets gave them both room to attack the rim from the FT lane or top of the key. They would be well-served to add a spin back to the left move - very right-handed.

 

They're the two best players on a good team that will win a lot of games.

You need to be able to handle pressure out front or you're in trouble against Holmes. That's what killed BB tonight. Brossart really struggled getting into an offense due to the extended pressure.

I think BB scored its first FG of the second half with about 3 minutes to go in the third quarter. By that time Holmes had pushed its lead to about 18 or 20. Holmes pressed for most of the game. As a result, BB struggled to get into an offensive flow.

Fully realizing their are downsides to the strategy, I think you have to sell out in deny mode with James. You just can't let him do what he wants with the ball. You have to make it a 4-on-4 game. You then have to get a rear end into the thighs of Chames or the rebound is his. Best offensive rebounder in the 9th. Do those two (easier said than done) and you'll be in a solid position.

Bolden was really feeling it tonight. He scored at all three levels and every defense Code threw at Holmes, he was ready for. Box and 1, 2-3 zone, m2m...it didn't matter. When he gets in a groove like that, you just have to hope the other guys aren't hitting shots too when you collapse on the drive. Tonight, Glover stepped up big time from outside which forced BB to continue to guard Bolden one on one at the top of the key.

 

Holmes' being able to play him off the ball because of how well McClendon handles the ball also makes them tough to defend. Double McClendon and it opens up driving lanes for Bolden.
