Just got home and can feel my legs again. First thanks to Lawnboy for setting up a dinner. Very nice to meet JumperDad and AverageJoe. I agree with mex 83 for the jumpers is really really good. Fast makes great down field moves. 75 played the dirtiest half of football I have seen in a long time. Not just on the field but spending time yelling at NewCath cheerleaders and students. NewCath needs to tackle much better in the open field. They played a solid game tonight and wish them the best next week.

What's wrong with pumping his team mates up. They had to triple cover him on most plays and that still didn't always work. Newport did the things they needed to win, no turnovers, but if it bothers you when somebody pancakes someone or slings them to the ground maybe you need to stick to flag football.

No problem, had a great time. Jumper and Average Joe are class guys, wish Shondue and SHSfuture could have made it, as well as, a few more of our NKY BGP brethren.

If my numbers are right, this was Somerset's 12th loss all time in the state semifinals. Mix in the fact that they are 0-5 in state championship games, with many of these games going down to the wire and it just seems like the Jumpers are snake bit. Tough, tough loss for Somerset.

Great Game! IMO the play of the game was a 3rd and 13 or 14 deep in their own end that NCC hit a screen for 51 yards out across the 50 into Somerset territory. A stop there and Somerset would had a chance to take the lead instead of playing catch up in the4th. Second biggest play that would have changed the out come was in the first OT Somerset had a pick go off of a LBs hands that would have shut NCC out in OT and given Somerset the ball.

 

I think the hit on the kicker on the first OT ExP affected him on the second one that he missed. He took a quick step and short follow through trying to get the ball out quick. I don't know if he was hurt or not on the previous kick but he was hit pretty good after kicking the extra point and got up off of the bottom of the pile.

 

NCC return game had then starting around midfield every possession and was a big help to them tonight. Seemed as if NCC QB was throwing to wide open receivers all night long.

Big thanks to Lawnboy for the hospitality before the game and directions out of there afterwards, we got to the interstate in record time. Probably before a lot of fans made it to their car, let alone out from under the bridge.

If anyone has never seen the skyline from NCC High parking lot at night it is worth the trip to the top of the hill.

That was a great high school football game. All night long it was punch, counter-punch...Neither team backed down a bit. It's a shame that someone had to lose. In the end Newport Central Catholic made about 3 less mistakes than Somerset. It certainly wasn't because one team wanted it more than the other--they might still be playing if not for the missed XP.

 

Thanks to Lawnboy for organizing the get together. Very nice to meet Mexitucky and Kentucky Joe as well. Good luck to NCC next week in Bowling Green.

Congrats to both teams as both are fine programs. NCC took their lumps early playing the big boys but as they do every year they get better as the season progresses. Best of luck next week in BG. Sorry I missed the LaRosas gathering. I actually took the family their after ice skating downtown. Hope you fellas from down south enjoyed.
