Congrats to Mercer they played the game of their lives. They can't get too caught up in this game ,because they have to go to Lex. Cath. I thought Boyle was out coached big time in this game, both on the offensive ,but on their defensive strategy as well. Of course I have always said that Boyle must be at least 2 TDs better than any good team they play because of there inept play calling. If Coach French doesn't replace his Offensive Coordinator after this fiasco, then he should resign himself. The only thing that kept Boyle in the game offensively was that Robbins and Burke just refused to go down in that 2nd half. Opposing coaches have always said if they can keep the game close in the 4th quarter that the Boyle OC will make some stupid call to give them a chance. He should not even be coaching now at Boyle because of some off the field issues as well. The defense played soft all night and stayed back on their heels except for one series, when they did go to an attack mode that worked, then went back to playing soft again. Boyle was penalized 11 times for 105 yds. Mercer 40 yds. You had to be there to see this crew that worked the game. It took three hours to play and they had a conference after every penalty.One of the worst pass interference calls that I have ever seen in a game led the first Mercer score. I still want to give Mercer credit for the win and wish them the best against LC in a game that will be very difficult for them to win. Don't expect the LC coaching staff to make the same blunders that the Boyle staff did.

LexCath fans aren't exactly thrilled or confident in their coaching staff. I expect a very interesting game on Friday.

I like this! I remember going back and forth with you and I like that you own up just like I did in the Boyle County thread.

 

The team definitely is focused and they know what is at stake for them this week. I'm proud of them either the way. The first monkey is off of their back.

I don't think that's what hatz is saying. Or I didn't take it that way. I take as hatz is saying. We was better prepared and out coached them. That is how I took hatz comment.

Not an excuse. An observation that reveals something more of a continuing problem with the O Coach at Boyle than discrediting Mercer's kids. I've already said many congrats to the Titans and will again. I hope they make it all the way.

 

As to being familiar with Pardue, the one thing I loved about him when he was the O Coordinator at Boyle was the way he would cross another Defense up and that would be so unforeseen the other team couldn't adjust right away and the result was often a big lead and a win. Boyle has shown that kind of versatility since Pardue stopped being the Offensive Guru at Boyle. (When he became the head coach for the Rebels)

I'd have to wait until after Mercer defeated them. Not a lot to say that we would agree upon before the game.

Maybe it is because Coach Pardue is smarter than people want to give him credit for. Boyle had a pretty good defense this year. Held Warren Central to 16 points. Anderson County scored 27 I think. LexCath had one of their worst games offensively against them. I'm thinking Pardue had Mercer well prepared to win this game against an above average defense.

I wasn't taking anything away from Coach Pardue. I think he is one of the best coaches in the state, especially as a play caller.

I also think Coach Mason is a good coach/play caller as well. When teams get beat everyone wants to blame someone...sounds to me that Mercer was the better team Friday night.
