So Mercer plays Lex Cath. next week and Mercer lost to Lex Cath earlier this season. Of course Mercer lost to Boyle earlier this season and only beat Boyle by 1 last night. Now Mercer faces Lex Cath next week and it sounds like a lot of big talk from a team that lost to Lex Cath. Highlands plays Cov. Cath next week and Im cheering for Highlands, but after reading this thread, if Mercer makes it past next week, I would love to see a Highlands vs. Mercer Match up. Or Heaven forbid a Cov . Cath. Mercer match up . After reading this thread, I don't care who wins , just someone beat Mercer.

I'm a Mercer fan. I'm not on here to argue. But how was Friday night's game a squirrel finds a nut? Did you watch the first meeting between these two teams? I did as I've watched every Mercer game this season. In the first meeting Boyle scored on their first drive of the game. Then was held scoreless until their last drive within the last 3 min of the game. Me being a die hard fan even had my own doubts about the first meeting. But all doubts was put aside Friday. Yes that was a huge win for us. But it wasn't a lucky win. Mercer also failed on two Fg tries in the first half. Getting a block in the back penalty calling back a td in the first half. Mercer County out played Boyle Friday night and was the best team Friday night. Not hardly finding a nut. I would argue that if you looked at Boyle/Mercer matchups this season I am sure you would find Mercer held Boyle's offense better than any other Boyle opponent. I could be wrong. Will they beat Lex Cath I don't know. I sure hope so. But that's why they play game. Just a few things on this coming game against Lex Cath. Let's not forget that was Crawley Goodman's first game at qb ever in his life. The kid is a special athlete. Mercer had 5-6 fumbles in that game. If Mercer plays def like they have proven they can vs Boyle and holds on to the football they have a shot a very good shot. Now as for Highlands. I'm a die hard like I've said but also realistic. We would have to play the game of our lives. Highlands would probably have to be off quite a bit. But that's why they play the game. Not saying we can or will beat Highlands if we play, but stranger things have happened. But for now we are playing for a region title on Friday and that is all I'm focused on.

I believe so. Mercer County is our next door neighbor. Our kids hang out together, work together, we work with their parents, have gone to school with their parents and the Mercer/Boyle rivalry isn't anything like the Boyle/Danville rivalry. I am absolutely rooting for Mercer County to defeat LexCath and Highlands/CovCath and Collins. Especially after this thread. As I mentioned earlier, I know more kids on Mercer's football team than Boyle's football team. I can never root against them when they aren't playing Boyle and it's still all love after the game as well. I can't stress how proud I am of Goodman and how he has responded to the challenge of taking over at QB after never playing the position in his life. Especially after knowing that in mid July he wasn't going to play football at all. Starks' excitement and brash demeanor doesn't change that. If one fan of a school had the power to change my allegiances then I am letting that one person get in my head way way too much and they have won. Not to mention if I lived by that rule I would despise Highlands.

I wish the best for Mercer. Everything I was told by a certain Boyle "expert" said that Mercer had been very good vs. the Rebels in meeting one and expected the same in meeting two. Not every Boyle fan thought it was a foregone conclusion.

There are a lot of people in this area that don't want to admit that mercer will now be a contender in this region for the foreseeable future. These kids have had tons of success from little league thru middleschool and it has not translated to high school until now because of inconsistency with the coaching staff over the last 4-5 years. Mercer has 2 freshman and a sophomore starting as their linebackers with a freshaman at CB. A freshman also scored a big TD Friday against Boyle. They will return all their skill guys next year except for QB. The future is bright for the Titans.

The future is really bright. We might see Boyle and Mercer become the top 2 teams in the district over the next couple of years.

Congrats to Mercer I am eating crow on this one, but guys just enjoy it and move on, dont get carried away, not many programs in state can boast being on top of Boyle and Lex. Cath in the same year, just work and do it.....for now try not to make anyone mad! You guys won but had some things bounce in your favor to get a one point win.

I like this! I remember going back and forth with you and I like that you own up just like I did in the Boyle County thread.

 

The team definitely is focused and they know what is at stake for them this week. I'm proud of them either the way. The first monkey is off of their back.

I'm going to say this also for all the people who have a problem with me. These are my thoughts and feelings. I'm going to dish it to Boyle people as much as often. Just because there are some on here that are nice and gracious doesn't meant they all are. There is a lot of trash talking going on between both schools and I am having fun for the most part. If people get mad I really don't care. I'll never talk bad about any kids or coaches but I will talk when we win and I'll eat crow when we lose. Just like I did in the Boyle County 2013 thread. I tried to tell people Mercer was coming and everybody laughed and talked about our 2A title that we had no control over. Ever since Mercer and Harrodsburg merged we have taken crap for having pride in our program just like everyone else on here. I'd like to see any program go through what Mercer has been through the last 5 years and see how many end up where we are at now. I love my Titans and you will always hear me roar after all the crap I had to take and now I am vindicated. I can be bold and brash and yeah, after I apologized and admitted I was wrong in the Boyle County thread I was pissed only one person acknowledged it. That's me though and not the team. I'm going to be me and you don't have to like me or respect me. Don't care. Don't hate on the team because of me. That's not fair to them.
