Will Muschamp...have a seat!!!

I'm not disputing that Florida could, in theory, afford to pay that much for Strong. I'm disputing that they'll want to. The cost to acquire Strong exceeds his market value.

I think you are right.

If Florida offers...Strong will crawl there on his knees if he has to just to get there.

:lol2:

Strong has more pride than that. This is the same Florida that didn't want him before, allegedly for some pretty stupid reasons. He might end up Florida's coach, but to characterize him as willing to crawl on his knees for the job is flat wrong.

I mean it as a metaphor that he'd do what ever it took to get there; plane, train, automobile crawl, not that he'd be on his knees begging...was referencing what Eddie Sutton said when UK hired him.

Would that include a multi-million dollar pay-cut? Because if not,

A) he wouldn't do anything

and

B) I really don't think it's going to happen.

It won't be for a pay cut...Cards Athletics are doing Great, But they can't win a bidding war with Florida IF Florida wants him...

I don't think it will happen either, I think they may shoot for a higher profile coach.

Muschamp will have to fire the entire offensive staff to keep his job.

First of all, Louisville doesn't have to match Florida's offer. They get a free $5 Million right off the bat. Louisville can pay $4.6 million a year for Strong through 2016, but Florida would have to pay $5.9 million (plus whatever they have to pay Muschamp to not coach at Florida). Florida is not, IMO, going to pay $500,000 more a year for Strong than Alabama does for Saban.

Looks like Saban might be getting a raise!!!

Florida will pay whatever they think it will take to get a winning coach. This is the SEC. Not some second rate conference.

Florida has been effectively Jokered...

Getting back on point, I don't believe Strong would go to UF, but it won't be for monetary reasons. He has it made at UL, get paid millions of dollars to go to a belk bowl and fans still love you... Seriously though I think he would be stupid to leave UL

I believe we have heard this same song and dance before back when Petrino was the coach, people not thinking he would leave. Don't get me wrong UL has a whole in all sports is a very good athletic program, and coaches can have a lot of success there and can be happy. However at the end of the day UL is not a program that coaches look at and say man that is where I want to be at, this is my dream job. All coaches just like players have dreams of wanting to be the head man for one of the known top football schools. To have all the publicity, to be able to be at a school that helps is easier to sell top recruits to go to, to on a yearly basis be able to have a serious chance at making a run at a title. Now moving to the ACC will help UL continue is rise some, however its not the ending place most up and coming coaches are wanting to be at.

Now it will take the right job and right circumstances for Strong to leave most likely, and that might not be the UF job. However when the time comes that the right job comes along and wants him, he probably most likely will be gone.

Biggest mistake Muschamp has made was installing a pro style offense. If you have all those horses and your recruiting ground has all those horses, why shackle them with that offense?

Money is not a problem for Florida. Jeremy Foley has a big buckets of it. Question is, will he be around to spend it?

I didn't know Foley was that deep into the hot seat. Hiring will got him that much in the hole?

I believe we heard this same song and dance when Tennessee wanted to hire Strong, that Louisville couldn't possibly keep him.

I think I've been quite clear in this thread that the reason I don't think Strong ends up at Florida if they fire Muschamp this year is because of money, not because Strong loves it so much at Louisville or because Louisville is a job on par with Florida. That's not exactly Pollyanna.

Personally, I think it's not unreasonable to question is worth what Louisville pays for him--but I will come out and say he's not worth what Florida would have to pay to get him, not when Bobby Petrino is available for pennies on the dollar.

Officially, I don't think so, but the fan base and donors are gathering the torches. Football is everything at Florida. Billy Donovan can win March Madness every year, and a 7-5 football season can still have an AD looking over his shoulder, even Foley. BTW, this team may not go 6-6.
