If that's what you think fine but everyone knows Florida will PAY what it takes and the Razorbacks and Vols aren't going to out spend them. $4.375 buyout is steep but spread over a 5 or 6 year contract that's not much considering what coaches get paid. Your average comes out even higher than mine (I was including this season's salary, which I agree is ereoneous) By your calculation, Louisville is paying Strong $4.8 million per year through 2016. Retention bonuses aren't rare, but $3.25 million in the first three years of the contract is well outside the norm.
November 15, 201312 yr Kind of what I'm thinking. Not saying he isn't worth it but how many coaches have we seen that made a name because they had 1 great player. We've seen one year from him without Bridgewater and they went 7-6. He's got one of the best QB's in the college and has played a very weak overall schedule.
November 15, 201312 yr ^ I don't know the inner workings of Louisville's coaching arrangement, but Strong was brought in as a defensive guy and his defense has been outstanding and has only gotten better as he's been here. The offense is presumably under the direction of OC Shawn Watson and is dreadfully boring. I don't know how much direct involvement Strong has in calling those plays. Strong's biggest flaw may be that he's overly loyal to his assistants, as demonstrated by the fact that his special teams coordinator still has a job.

They are able to win due to a really good QB and awful schedule. What's going to happen when Teddy isn't taking snaps and the play calling is still as is? What would happen this year if they were playing a decent schedule.

I honestly don't think another D coach will get the shot (Strong is safe in the Ville), I think they will go after someone that's a little more of an offensive guy. Of course he could get another year, but if the Noles hang 70 on the Gators he needs to just walk away.

Rolling the dice with a coordinator is just too risky, IMO.
November 24, 201312 yr I think that after the miss on Muschamp, Foley will want to try to knock the next hire out of the park. No doubt about it, Florida is a football school, and Foley's keeping Donovan years ago isn't going to be enough to save his job if he misses on another football hire.
