November 11, 201312 yr Biggest mistake Muschamp has made was installing a pro style offense. If you have all those horses and your recruiting ground has all those horses, why shackle them with that offense? 1. For the truly elite-level recruiting teams, I think the agnosticism of pro-style treats them well because they basically recruit incredible players and then figure out the system and scheme later. Moreover, spread offenses, option offenses, and really any pass-first offense (including West Coast attacks of which I’d put Georgia in the category) require very good quarterback play. Alabama and LSU are basically designed to win in spite of their quarterbacks; Nick Saban does not want to return an all world defense with a bunch of five-star playmakers and lose because his QB was a junior and had some “growing pains”, which absolutely happens at every level. In other words, if you get be a top 5 recruiting team every year, it’s not that you want to be pro-style it’s that you want to be “system neutral.” They can get superior talent and can fit plays around those incredible guys. Note that this isn’t the same as “fitting your scheme to your players,” because we’re talking about first round draft choice guys not guys with certain strengths and certain weaknesses. - See more at: The interplay of recruiting, eliteness and pro-style versus spread schemes | Smart Football
November 11, 201312 yr Officially' date=' I don't think so, but the fan base and donors are gathering the torches. Football is everything at Florida. Billy Donovan can win March Madness every year, and a 7-5 football season can still have an AD looking over his shoulder, even Foley. BTW, this team may not go 6-6.[/quote'] Bam, bam and bam. It's a football school, UF will pay whatever it takes to fix this mess.
November 11, 201312 yr I think Pease is good as gone. I don't think Muschamp is on the hot seat for this season. He's ja 10 players go down with season ending injuries, I don't care how much depth you have, that's hard to recover from.
November 11, 201312 yr I hear the pressure's starting to get to Saban at Alabama. Maybe he'd make the move to UF (TIC).
November 14, 201312 yr Author Right now, at this very moment, Louisville pays Charlie Strong a lot more than Florida pays Muschamp. If you factor in the retention bonuses, Charlie Strong is making $4.6 million dollars a year through 2016 at Louisville (the actual contract is longer, but the retention bonuses make that the effective term. If he's still here it will be redone before then). Muschamp is making about $3 million per year through 2017. When you factor in Strong's $5 million dollar buyout, the cost to Florida just to match Louisville's money goes up to $5.9 million dollars a year--Nick Saban only costs Alabama $5.5 million a year. So right off the bat, we're talking about doubling the cost of compensation to the head coach, and we aren't even considering what it costs to make Muschamp go away. That's what I mean when I say that Charlie will cost too much. Could Florida pay that much to get him, if they somehow considered it life or death? Probably. But it's not likely that they'll feel like it's necessary. Looked it up If Muschamp is fired, he will earn $2 million for every year left on his contract.
November 14, 201312 yr He will probably get one more painful year next year assuming they struggle, then get fired. Probably not worth it for him and his mental health.
November 15, 201312 yr Author Strong's buyout to leave the Cards drops to $4.375 Million as of Jan 1st of 2014 and to $3.75 as of Jan 1st 2015 So if Muschamp makes it to next season it would only cost $3.75 Million after Dec 31st of next year to buyout Strong's contract. Strong currently at $3.7 per not $4.6, there are some bonuses and other things that may take him up to around $4.5 if he hits all of the bonuses including winning a National Title. Details of Charlie Strong's contract revealed Here's what the top 10 make... Nick Saban Is the Most Underpaid, Highest-Paid Coach in the Country | Bleacher Report
November 15, 201312 yr This is one UL fan that knows when Charlie is ready to leave he will. He would have left last season if UT hadn't messed it up in the final minutes. Will Charlie go back to UF, I think so in a heart beat. Its a place you can have 1 loss and play for a National Title. UL is still years away from having the same respect. So I will enjoy Charlie Strong while he is hear. I have always said as long as UL can keep Tom Jurich I am not worried about who is coaching. In Tom I trust!

Nick Saban Is the Most Underpaid, Highest-Paid Coach in the Country | Bleacher Report Sorry to call you out about this, but you've got it wrong on Strong's salary and bonuses. The retention bonuses I mentioned aren't part of then $4.4 million number you threw out there. Read further along in your link: If Strong remains at Louisville through June 30, 2015, he is in line for a $1.25 million bonus and a $1 million annuity to be paid once he reaches age 65. Strong will also net $1 million if he stays at Louisville through June 30, 2016 That's where the $4.6 million number through 2016 comes from. I actually didn't include any of the performance incentives bonuses in that. If Louisville doesn't win another game and Charlie Strong stays through June 30, 2016, they will owe him over $18 million dollars, end of story.

November 15, 201312 yr Just don't hire anyone from Tulsa, though. I will agree, his one and only bust.

True but retention bonuses will be available where ever he goes. Spin it however helps you want that your coach won't leave because Florida can't afford him, but Florida can and will pay what ever it takes to get him IF they decide he's their man. Your saying that you don't think FLORIDA will pay as much as Arkansas or Tennessee did for a new coach? If that's what you think fine but everyone knows Florida will PAY what it takes and the Razorbacks and Vols aren't going to out spend them. $4.375 buyout is steep but spread over a 5 or 6 year contract that's not much considering what coaches get paid. Not to call you out but... Strong Contract $3.7 2014 (year end June 30) this current season June 2013 to June 2014 $3.7 2015 (year end June 30) next season June 2014 to June 2015 $3.7 2016 (year end June 30) year after next June 2015 to 2016 $11.1 Total without performance/incentive bonus Retention Bonus $1.25 Retention Bonus paid if he stays through June 30 2015 $1.00 Annuity paid to him at age 65 if he stays til June 30 2015 $1.00 Retention Bonus paid if he stays through June 30 2016 $3.25 Total in retention Bonuses if in place through June 30 2016 $14.35 Total Owed to Strong without performance/incentive bonuses.
