Dark horse who deserves consideration and to have his name mentioned in the conversation: Devin Taylor of West Jessamine. Over 2660 (242/game) yards this year and almost 2500 last. Everybody in the tri-state knew he'd get the ball ( no real passing attack to share the load) and he still got the yards. West Jess not a power, either. Great kid and he deserves to be in the conversation! Now he is!

Ok here is my take........

 

1. Nacarius Fant.....If BG wins state then it's a no brainer for me. I have watched him on film a few times and he is by far the best player in the state. IMO!

 

2. ?

 

3. Drew Barker.....He just doesn't get my vote because he alone should be able to will his team to at least the 3rd or 4th round without any nail biters the 1st & 2nd....i.e. Tim Couch! Leslie Co made it the Semi's that year and Beat Bowling Green & Highlands in the same year because of Tim Couch. He was able to get them only so far.

 

4. Brenan Kuntz.....This is where he belongs unless Simon Kenton does the unthinkable and wins state. Then he's your Winner! Very good QB....

 

5. Drew Houliston.....If he leads HHS to another State Title then I think he has to finish top 5 with the Sr. year he has has so far.

 

I'm sure there are plenty of very good football players across the state that will make up a totally different 5 but this is all I know from where I watch it. Good luck to all the finalists!

If Kuntz can lead SK to a title then I agree, he should be in the top 3 finalists at least. Hard to argue with Barker's career numbers and if BG wins state, Fant's numbers will be really stupid. It'd be hard to not give it to Fant if BG wins state.
