I personally would love to see Barker win but I think Fant may be ahead at this point. He has stepped up everytime they needed him to this year. He also has crushed Quicks numbers from last year but Barker making the 50/50 club is tough to ignore.

Kuntz had a great season. No doubt, but he needed to be in the talk long before the season started and he just wasn't in the conversation except for people in Independence.

 

Something to remember about these types of awards, it is as much popularity contest as anything else and unless you play for a top team in the state you will need to have the publicity long before the first snap of the season. Barker had the publicity going into the season and the stats before the season and really did nothing to hurt his chances this year. He joined the 50/50 club and with what he had to work with around him he still put up pretty good numbers.

 

I still think Fant may be the top candidate right now. He wasn't one of the top picks before the seasonn but he was onthe radar and did nothing this season to hurt his chances and everything to impprove his chances. I think it's him or Barker. What hurt Drew is getting knocked out of the playofffs early which will only give Fant more weeks to put up numbers. Now if Kuntz wins state, he could have some votes, but I don't think that will happen.

Again, SK 12-0, Conner 8-4, Barker and Kuntz are both 1/22nd of the equation as to why they win or loose. This isnt boxing or tennis, this is still a team game.

Very true, but Barkers performance in 2 of his last 3 games leaves a lot to be desired. Mr. Football is an individual / stat driven award.
