I'm not sure about that. I really like Scott and what they've done this year, been a huge supporter of their program this year. Very fun to watch. But they are very one dimensional, run run run and every once in awhile toss in a pass. When you run into a team that can stop what your best at, and in Scott's case that is the run then they tend to struggle. They remind me a lot of Harlan County last year. A very run orientated team and once we figured out how to stop them they struggled a ton.

 

Beecwhood is the type of team I believe that can slow teams down with their defense and they are very balanced offensively which is the type of teams that Scott struggles with.

Maybe the votes for SK are an anti-HHS segment voicing a hope that someone may finally surpass the mighty Birds.

Even if Highlands were to lose to Elder, which is not a given. Coaches know that Elder is head and shoulders above anyone SK has played this year.

 

And should the Birds win then we wont be debating or worrying about who is arguably the best in NKY but the Highlands fans will have something to say about who is #1 in the State with some very good reasons....:thumb:

Maybe one of the numbers geeks can do one of those computer, strength of schedule thingys and show the over zealous SK fan that even with a Highlands loss this week that the numbers will still favor the Birds regardless of the outcome.

 

And if they win the computer can send an "alert,alert,alert" out like the USGA does with golf on handicapping that says "these numbers can't be right"

Do you think anyone likes Simon Kenton? I don't think it is anti-HHS. I could see it being Scott and Dixie supporting their fellow Kenton County school.

I don't think it's anti HHS, I just think when someone dominates for so long it's natural to vote someone else when given a chance, just for a change of pace.

Let's not assume that Dale hasn't burnt some bridges with many of the coaches in NKY who would love to see someone else at the top of the polls.

Let's not assume that many coaches in Northern Kentucky do not want to step up to the plate and play the Birds for whatever reason either.

I can agree with this to a point, but also would like to understand the definition of "burning bridges". Is it because he elavated the expectations in NKY to such a competitive level that he made the others look bad? Or did he actually do something to each individual coach or team that left a bad taste? Because stories can be made up or exaggerated when people just don't like how they look compared to others. I can tell you, if Dale did anything to upset someone or hurt their feelings, it was either not intentional or there is way more to the story than whats on the surface. There are two sides to every story!

 

And, there are a lot of new coaches in NKY that haven't even played him in the past, so what's their reason?

I believe that playing a tough schedule is a good thing but saying 6A schools should play Highlands if they want to win a State title is ridiculous the last time the big school state champion played Highlands in a REAL game was 1998. The path to a big school state title does not go through Ft.Thomas. Look at the one NKY 6A school that played Highlands consistently they couldn't compete with the Birds and it led to Ft.Thomas people questioning the direction of that schools program which at the time was headed by one of their own. I hope SK never schedules highlands to continue to read how offended GROWN MEN get by the fact that SK is proud of their programs accomplishments. It really is no different than Highlands not playing Trinity in a real game yet want to be considered the best team in the State.
