NKY Coaches Poll Week 8

Featured Replies

Not quite sure what you mean. Is it you don't think an undefeated SK team should be 1 over a 1 loss HHS team because of strength of schedule? My second sentence was me trying to be funny.

To me, it doesn't really matter who's number 1 in a poll. Just matters who's number 1 when it all ends.

Exactly..

So, how many losses by HHS would allow SK to be ranked #1? I don't have a dog in this fight and I'm not trying to start an argument. I was taking a slight simplistic view and the only real way to figure out who is #1 between the 2 would be by a common schedule and we both know that will not occur.

SK would beat Highlands. Highlands let Bryan Station score 44 points on them and they are not good at all.

JV...

SK has let their JV play in a bunch of games and usually only give up 1 touchdown. Highlands would get thumped by SK!

Go Camels!!!!!

I think it all comes down to common sense. If HHS lost to an inferior team than SK would deserve the #1 spot. If HHS would lose to Elder that is not a bad loss..Like I said common sense.

Bryan Station is a little better than Holy Cross..

I guess I will have the last laugh when Collins beats Highlands in the playoffs! :D

Since your team will be done by then, come down to BG and watch a truly good team.

I might watch Collins they are a good team! But I would rather watch SK win 6A and head home! :D

From my standpoint, I don't care who they play as long as they challenge themselves. I think most think playing Cov Cath and HHS (who are right in your backyard) is a good way to challenge yourself. We hear how they want to be recognized as a top team, but then won't play anyone. You aren't going to get recognition or any better by playing a schedule like that. One of the excuses used is that they play all the 6A schools around here and it doesn't make sense to travel of play teams that far away. Really? You don't have to. And they do play teams from down state, just lower ranked division teams. That comment actually cracked me up, but I left it alone. Regardless of class or whether you feel we are saying "the 6A title rolls through Ft Thomas" (which is hilarious in itself that is what you take from our comments), it's about challenging and preparing your team to play the best at state. I could care less who they play, but I would never consider them a powerhouse in the state by looking at that schedule. They have done this the last couple years and as soon as they play a decent team, they get smashed. Why would anyone consider them a top team? What have they done to show anyone on here anything different? Having a winning record only goes as far as the teams you played against. So do you think an undeated DIII team is better than a 1 loss Alabama? Noone would. That's kind of how I think of SK until they beat someone that is actually at the level they are claiming to be. I've already said this, but I have waaaayyyyy more respect for a 4-4 (whatever they are now) NCC team than I do an undefeated 6A team that only has 6A teams on their schedule because they have to play them and choses to fill the rest of their schedule with what should be cupcake games for a powerhouse 6A school. That doesn't mean I think NCC is better than SK, but I would give them much more respect for doing the right things, challenging themselves and preparing themselves for a state run. What did SK do to prepare themselves to compete for a state TITLE? Who did they play that sets them up to not be completely shell shocked when they see a SC, T X, Male, Manual again?

I bet if you honestly asked the fans (that arent as naive as some on here) what they would rather have, I bet it would be much different.

Would they rather have what they are today....Undefeated team that is truly untested against top competition? And please don't tell me they are. They may have been tested against Conner, Collins and Dixie, but please don't try and tell me you really believe that is "tested against top competition".

OR, would the fans feel better if they were 6-4 and would have played and been competitive with Cov Cath, HHS and maybe a Moeller, St X or Elder? Forget that I'm an HHS fan and plug any bigtime programs in there. I don't care.

I know that I would much rather know exactly where I stand and know that my kids have seen just about everything that can be thrown at them, rather than playing a cupcake schedule and having no clue what my team will do when they see a team just as big, fast and athletic as mine. That already showed itself in the Dixie game. Dixie is a good team, but still not going to convince me they are on the level of the big 4-5 this year...even with the big boys being considered "down".

Please don't get me wrong. I have said many times that I really hope this is a start of an upward trend in NKY football. I really do! But you have to make sure the fans and players are challenging the coaches to do the right thing and play good teams. It doesn't take long for fans to realize what "fools gold" is. You can rack up all kinds of wins agains weaker opponents, but in the end, it means nothing if you aren't at least competing in games against schools that you'd have to compete against to eventually win a state title. Not a lot of teams win state titles, but a lot of teams can at least compete for one and have a chance to beat the big dogs in their division. I can't stand the NKY attitude in 6A of "well we'll never beat T, so why try?" In my opinion (and not being mean at all), SK hasn't done anything to give me any hope that they could actually win state this year, even in an extremely down year. Not playing a tough schedule and having very close games against teams that could not be within 3-4 touchdowns of the top 5 6A schools, tells me SK will struggle once they get there. I would love to be wrong!

Does your boss know your doing this on company time? :sssh: :lol2:

Everybody keeps saying Dixie gave SK a game but everybody forgets SK was inside the 10 yard line with less than a minute and first down. They chose to down the ball and end the game instead of scoring again on Dixie. If they play again in the playoffs SK will beat Dixie by at least 21 points.

SK would beat Highlands. Highlands let Bryan Station score 44 points on them and they are not good at all.

This statement and others like it are more evidence of you opening the pie hole before you know what you speak of. Highlands put a running clock on Station with 8 min. left in the first half. 56 first half points and let the bench, a very loooooong bench, finish it out.

You are right that BS is not a great team and I think SK could could put 56 on them as well. If they played them twice.:jump:

Actually I think BS. Vs. SK would be a nice match.

SK knocked them out of the playoffs last year. Actually I think SK has beat them every time they have played them.
