Wow, I hate to hear that. I think it sometimes puts more pressure on the kid than it does the father.

Did Coach Nagle coach BJ when they lived in Memphis?

Hate to say, ·i told ya so· but (you know the rest). The real losers in this is the senior class, proud alumnus and mostly the kid that was going to be qb before neagles came back to town. It will take a lot for the new coach to win back over everyone. The decision to put the newbie in has cost them their season.

I would say the Defense, or lack thereof, has been way more disappointing than the QB play. Season isn't over yet. Is X still running a 3-4 scheme? Seems not to be working well and I don't believe they can't find 11 guys who can tackle and cover.

With all due respect, the T people were lucky with fathers coaching over the years. frankly, I do not like it at the hs level. I think it need to be limited if at all. Too much at stake with other players and opportunities.

That's the problem with having Dad's coach their sons at this level. Fortunatley their are a few that I personally know who handle the responsibility great and should be models other father coaches should use to see how you coach and not play favorites.

 

Worked okay for Chuck Smith and Brandon Smith at Boyle County. But as you said, sometimes it is not a good mix.

It takes a certain chemistry for it to work. The father has to be willing to put his desires for his son's personal success aside and the son can not rely on his father to help him any more then any other player.

He left the week of the Trinity game. The school is not likely to issue a press release about the departure of a position coach. Trinity never made an official public statement when Coach Swabek left the staff. They don't have to. I wonder if Mr. Houk or Mr. Breit gets the gig.

I thought about this same thing when I saw the stat's from the Moeller-Elder game. Elder's got this stud running back, and he only ran a few times, while the QB (coach's son) throws a ton of times (and not very effectively). I wasn't there, and maybe the Moe line was totally stuffing the run, but like I said, it crossed my mind that maybe dad was helping son despite what was best for the team.

BJ has improved since his father quit. Maybe a pressure situation. 13 of 28 still does not get it done though.

I'll go ahead and talk about the elephant in the room...

 

How shameful should the St. X administration feel for this absolutely ridiculous crew they brought in and handed an excellent team to? The Head Coach had zero coaching experience save a very brief stint in which he quit, and that was at the Freshman level. The QB coach had zero experience and has now quit. SIX dads with players on the team? It's a shameful disgrace to what could have been for this X team.

 

I am not saying that the coaches ought to be blamed entirely for this. The blame for this debacle falls on those people who put these guys in a VERY bad position by making some VERY bad choices in both their firing AND hiring. I mean, if I said to any one of my buddies who watch football everyday and who many of were an excellent players in high school and college, "Hey man, I need you to be the Head Coach of a high school team real quick. And not just any high school, a major, 200+ kid program with huge boosters and extreme expectations." ...and expected him to be successful? That's insanity. But that's exactly what St. X has done. Crazy!

 

X has players. EVERYWHERE. They are as big and as good or almost as good at EVERY skill and line position as ANYONE they have or will play this year. But they are like a little league program in terms of what they're doing on both sides of the ball. It is comical to watch and the only thing that keeps them from loosing every game is just good their players actually are.

 

It is a shame for the kids.
