SK is absolutely as good at the skill positions and bigger on the lines. It's ok for you guys to admit that another team has good players.

 

I have no problem giving props to the kids from SK. They are obviously a nice group. Their record and the convincing nature of the victories speak for themselves.

 

The statement that they are as good HHS at the skill positions - sorry - I just do not agree with. Powell is a very nice running back. He would have to wait his turn behind Harris and Hayes at Highlands. I really don't know the WR's at SK - not sure how they would fit into the 9 player rotation at HHS. Birds pretty solid and very deep at wide-out.

SK is deep at receiver and has some speed guys out there and some very good possession guys. I'm not sure that Powell would sit behing anybody....maybe a coaches decision on that one. He's very talented and is super quick.

Would definitely be a better game than any NKY school has given HHS in a few years. (Yes, that's a shot at CovCath). :wave:

 

That would be funnier if some other Northern Kentucky teams outside of CCH actually played HHS on a consistent basis.

I have been to a SK game this year. I have watched all the kids we are comparing here. I have a basis for my opinion.

Simon Kenton's own head coach doesn't believe they can beat Highlands. If he did, Highlands would be on the schedule. Instead, Marksberry scheduled Holy Cross and Newport Central Catholic, another school that doesn't schedule Highlands because they know they couldn't compete with them. Nothing wrong with that. Beechwood stopped playing Highlands for the same reason. If you know you can't be competitive, why schedule the game? Marksberry obviously believes Simon Kenton cannot compete with Highlands. And who would know better than the head coach and athletic director? End of discussion.

If you want to add to the fun, run the #'s for HHS FB involvement. Take the # of male students participating in Football and divide by the male enrollment (using KHSAA guidelines). I bet you the % is higher than most 6A schools (and completely justifies their success in their assigned class).

 

I can't speak for most NKY schools. I'd say that most have their reasons for not playing HHS. For the sake of arguement, I'll just say that all others must be scared of the mighty 'birds (or is it the new turf, or the scoreboard, or......)

Would SK win, I doubt it. Would SK make it a game and probably the closest game in NKY HHS would have all season 100% yes.
