Having seen both teams on film and in person, I believe SK would have a hard time covering/defending the passing game of Highlands. A lot would depend on if SK could keep Highlands' offense on the sidelines by controlling the line of scrimmage. Also, Coach Herbst (D Cord @Sk) would have to be creative with pressure packages which could allow for big plays. Here are my thoughts: if these 2 teams played this year it would be 35-20 with Highlands pulling away late. SK would keep it close. You must be multi dimensional (Miles Simpson/Chad Lawrence/passing) in the run game and have a decent passing game to beat Highlands. The Johnson Central's (all power run/no pass), CovCath (passing Bir/no run threat), and Lex Cath (pass/no run) all have not had much success. The balanced teams (GCL schools and Trinity) are very balanced and have most success. Highlands offense gets all the accoladed but their defense is NASTY and their defensive coordinator is best in state with Coach Herbst (SK d cord) is in Top 10.

What do you mean by nasty? If your saying that they will bring the wood, then I agree. The game that I saw # 11 and #30 will take your head off!!! On the other hand, if your DB's and safety are making most of the tackles, that's not good. By looking at past performances, H needs to still be working on wrapping up with those big hits. D coordinator is very good.

 

From what I have seen from both teams, IMO, H by 2 TD's.

Didn't Conner beat a very good CovCath team last year? SK handled Conner this year and Conner will probably beat CovCath this year also.

 

They won by 7. Thats not handling anyone. If not for the saving grace of a kickoff return and a penalty on a blocked FG, its SK going down. The pass d got shredded.

Tilghman had 6 sacks against them, so, a bigger, stronger, SK team could possibly do the same. Then, of course, SK would need to win the turnover battle. If they could do these things, which is easier said than done, then sure, they could beat them. While the talent advantage goes to Highlands, I don't think it's an insurmountable advantage, because SK has some really good talent themselves.

This is just a bunch of nonsense. HHS would beat SK all 10 times if they played them 10 times, and twice if they played a double header on Sunday. Coaching, Talent and Speed kill, and HHS has more of all of things than SK.

I don't think the Florida team, Cov Cath, Tilghman or JH have the talent that SK does, so, I'd think this, in itself, would make it more realistic. JH is close in talent to SK, but, still a notch or 2 lower. CC, with all there injuries, are behind them, as well.

Again, other teams they've played this year have had some success against them, running straight at them and I don't think any of those are as efficient or have as good a line as SK does, so, I don't think it's a stretch to think they could have some success running the clock and controlling time of possession.

 

Yeah, if Highlands scores early and often and gets 3 or 4 quick stops, game over, but, again, other lesser caliber teams have found success getting to the QB and throwing there timing off. Execution is the key and not turning the ball over. I think SK could have some offensive success and are good enough on the defensive end to get a few stops and if they're controlling the clock and getting some 5-6 minute drives,on average, that's all it would take, because that would likely limit Highlands possessions to 7 or 8 in the game. If they hold them 3 times, that means 28-35 points for Highlands, max. If they keep them in the lower of that point total, I think they'd have a real good shot at the upset.
