September 19, 201313 yr SportsCenter @SportsCenter 18m THIS JUST IN: Nick Saban's agent & University of Texas regents met in January about possibility of Saban replacing Mack Brown. (via @AP) Rumors are already swirling. I believe he could make them bigger than he has Alabama now.
September 19, 201313 yr Why? That's what I was thinking. Texas is at best a lateral move if not a slight decline? I think the NFL is about the only upward movement he could make. I guess you could argue Notre Dame since he is Catholic but from a college standpoint, I think he is at a destination job.
September 19, 201313 yr Lateral move at best, other than the $$ of course. Isn't he already getting an NFL type of salary package? Now, Texas may be offering to make his assistants the best paid in college football, that might make a difference.
September 19, 201313 yr Lateral move at best, other than the $$ of course. True...but, the only way he can go at Bama now, is down. He's set the bar so unrealistically high, that even very, very, very, very good seasons may not be enough from here on out. At least at Texas, he'd be starting over, and could still go "up".
September 19, 201313 yr Ah the rumors, from January in September, after Texas starts of lousy yet again, why am I not surprised. So many Texas fans right now praying to the collegiate football gods.
September 19, 201313 yr Why wouldn't this have come out in January, right after Bama won the ship again?
September 19, 201313 yr This rumor is gonna make Saban probably a million more now, he should have someone start this annually.
September 19, 201313 yr This rumor is gonna make Saban probably a million more now, he should have someone start this annually. I started to post that exact same thing earlier but then thought I'd remembered him just recently having his contracted re-negotiated or altered for more money. But you're right they'd still do it again I'm sure.
September 19, 201313 yr This just came across Twitter: John Calapari rumored to be in consideration for the open Texas HC spot. Saban leaving my backside..................:puke:
September 20, 201313 yr Texas is the single best job in college sports. You are fooling yourself if you think otherwise...
September 20, 201313 yr Why? I mean, aside from getting to live in Austin instead of Tuscaloosa... Austin is kinda overrated. Horrible traffic. And not that "weird", just more hippie than any other place in Texas. It can be fun, but it's not all it's cracked up to be.
