So step up and get something going at HHS or other local schools.

 

Jack Kaelin and the rest of the staff at CCH do their best each year to put together a class, professionally run tournament. I'm sure they wouldn't mind a year or two off.

 

I think the 9th region freshman tournament is the premier freshman tournament in the state. Everything is run as if it were a varsity tournament. HHS would be horrible to host. Let them fix their floor first.

Agreed. Not just the floor though. Lighting, capacity, ventilation, room on sidelines, lobby, parking, and concession area. There is only one fix for this facility. Kaboom :flame:

:laugh: Correcto!!! In my earlier post, I was not saying that Cov Cath doesn't do a good job of running the tournament. If they take the initiative and run a nice tourney then great. You can't tell me that it is not an advantage to play on your homecourt though. As far as HHS running a tournament.... they could put something together up at the ARmory at the Fort and it would be nicer than their gymnasium. what about all of the old team photos from the past on plaques in the foyer when you enter..... talk about Sun Damage.....it is just sad. Maybe they should sell the faulty Jumbo Tron on ebay as a firesale and use the money to re-hab the gym.

Now that the Bird freshman season is over, where do these kids go from here? How many will go on and play baseball? How many will start hitting the weights in anticipation of spring football? Will any practice with the varsity and jayvee for the rest of the season? Just curious to know since I know that some of these kids are multi-sport athletes.

I'd be suprised if any frosh moved up in Bball. There can't be many JV games left, and I don't think they have any more room on the varsity bench. Is there a limit to how many a team can dress for a varsity game?

Remember the old days when 1/2 the JV team sat in the stands after their game! I know Jake Turner plays baseball. I heard Josh Connor wasn't. Mitch Fair is a baseball player. Maybe Turner opts for FB workouts if he's competing for JV starter. Guidugli will go FB.

I don't believe the frosh are permitted to play spring football at Highlands. I may be wrong, but I don't ever recall that happening. Then again, my memory isn't quite what is used to be given my age. Thank goodness that's all that's failing.

I guess I was wrong. I couldn't even remember back two years ago when my elder son was a freshman. Thank goodness I can remember my clients' billing numbers. Wife's anniversary......????

No one said CCH didn't do a good tourney, it just seems unfair that they host both frosh and jv every year. As far as attendance you could hold it in any gym and not worry about turning people away. But you have to agree home court advantage is huge. No travel time, play on the court you practice on, a few more fans. I will definitely be talking to administration and find out if it would be as truly easy to move this to another site.

I'd imagine your guess is right on. Whats wrong with having it at Covcath.? When my son played in the freshman tournament, it brought memories of my "glory years". Having him play in the same tourney at the same venue was kinda cool. I even broke out the program from my time, got quite a kick out of that. I hope they always play it there. :thumb:

I know what you mean though... I kept all of my mid 80's All A Classic programs when the teams from downstate used to come up here. Back when Bardstown had James "Boo" Brewer, Sam Liberatore, etc... Its funny how people thought the mullet was cool back then.
