There is a sepearte tourney all Class A schools have the option to play in. Holy Cross NCC and St.Henry have opted out of that for quite a few years now. Beechwood has done so also recenlty. It shows the program is making strides.

Not all class A schools just division III schools.

I have a odd feeling this year that they won't. Don't ask why or how, because I don't really know. Im just going out on a limb here and saying they lose to highlands in the semis.

Good chance but not a shoo-in like other years have been. After their first round bye, they'll have a fairly easy game vs the winner of Conner/Scott.Then they will meet either Newport, NCC,Highlands or Simon Kenton.They didn't play Newport this year, they beat NCC by 17, lost to Highlands in OT by 1 and beat Simon Kenton in OT. Either of these four teams will be a very tough game. In the championship they'll probably play HC, St Henry or Boone. They beat both HC & St Henry in the regular season and lost to Boone Co.

They are probably the favorite especially at home, but it would be a slight favorite this year!

CCH got the easiest ride to do so. But they are no shoo in to win. The are no more talented than some of the other top teams. HC is a strong contender with their best freshman never seeing freshman ball this year.

CCH's best freshman is not playing freshman ball either, I'm sure there are other teams in the same situation.

This is why the frosh tourney is not an indicator of anything in the big picture. CCH won it a few years ago despite having 2 frosh playing up(TJ and Bo). However, the Bulldogs had DJ, Hill, the kid that is now at Ryle playing up. SK had Edmondson and Hester playing up.

 

Its a great tourney though .

Winners tonight in the first round were Dixie, Ryle, Holy Cross & St Henry. Next round matchups next Saturday: Dixie/Ryle & Holy Cross/St Henry. No real surprises although maybe Boone was slightly favored over Ryle. Ryle shot lights out early and Boone just couldn't quite catch up. Should be more great games Wednesday in the rest of the first round.

Ryle was beating the pants off Boone, but Boone seemed to always have the answer and put up a 10 point run to tie the game and could have put the game into overtime if it wasn't for a poorly designed last play.

Lloyd's freshman team were playing a double schedule, due to numerous JV kids quitting and getting kicked off. Tough year for those kids. Hopefully for them it will be beneficial for them in the long run.

Cov Cath's freshman are usually pretty talented. I hear they are down from year's past though. What are their weaknesses? You wonder if talent is the only thing that is making them "down".
