2006 NKY Freshman Invitational Tournament played at CovCath

Malachi.... wow still have the same program? I didnt know they could print programs back in the 70's....

I know what you mean though... I kept all of my mid 80's All A Classic programs when the teams from downstate used to come up here. Back when Bardstown had James "Boo" Brewer, Sam Liberatore, etc... Its funny how people thought the mullet was cool back then.

That was uncalled for. It is in black and white though.

  • Obviously the "best freshman in the state" didn't play. that's the only way the boys on the hill COULD have beaten the Wildcats....Right??? Head Director...where you at??? :dancingpa

I, too, played in this tourney in 1978 at CCH.

I wonder how long CCH has hosted it.

Were the uniforms the old tight tops with belt buckles on the shorts????

Looks like you and Malachi could have been opponents.... he was a cakeater and you were a Colonel...atleast I am assuming you were.

That would be incorrect.

I think we had those in middle school. I'll have to look at the picture, but I do remember our long white tube socks with the wide blue and red stripes. The hairdo was a little different than today ;)

While the KY Post says this would be the 4th consecutive FROSH crown for CCH, it would actually be the 5th.

No one said CCH didn't do a good tourney, it just seems unfair that they host both frosh and jv every year. As far as attendance you could hold it in any gym and not worry about turning people away. But you have to agree home court advantage is huge. No travel time, play on the court you practice on, a few more fans. I will definitely be talking to administration and find out if it would be as truly easy to move this to another site.

Give it a try. I think you'd be surprised by the amount of time and effort that those who run the tourney put into it. They do a first class job.

As far as the freshman tourney, is it always at CCH now? If so, this will be the 3rd year in a row for that. It used to rotate, '04 when CCH was in the finals on both levels, at the same time. All 3 teams involved in the two tournaments agreed to play it at CCH, hoping for larger crowds since there would be two games, back-to-back. I guess that just stuck?

The Class of '05, '06, '07, '08 and '09. You're right, it is 5 straight.

That's pretty impressive, the Colonels should be winning a few Regionals Titles in the next couple of years!!

Its at best a decent predictor. There are too many variables involved in the FROSH championship.

True, but that is pretty consistent! Good Luck in the Future!!!

Interestingly enough, the last team not to win the freshman regional ended up winning the 9th as seniors.

Freshman basketball is fun and great to watch, but it is not an accurate indicator of things to come. Like cshs mentioned, there are far too many variables involved. Most importantly, freshman playing JV and/or Varsity.

Colonels have a huge advantage in freshman basketball over a lot of schools. They have a good amount of talent on every level. So most freshman don't move up.

I mean this is a whole different tournament if every schools best freshman is playing down.

CCH is coached well at freshman level and do what they should do bottom line.
