Is Bowling Green the best team in Ky?

Featured Replies

We suck. But I still love 'em! And I'll take our schedule and losses over a schedule of overmatched teams and guaranteed wins any day.

I agree with that and no one disputes T plays a great schedule, but, I think a lot of T fans don't give BGs schedule it's due. Trust me, I live in Tn and I know how good Ensworth is. BG plays McCallie and Blackman, also from Tn, and those 2 teams are very good, especially Blackman. Playing teams like B.Station(who they didn't get to play), St X, the 2 Tn teams, Owensboro, WCentral, etc. aren't minced meat. Is it T's schedule, no, but, it is a challenging schedule that'll test your medal and certainly not guaranteed wins.

You know what? A few years ago, you couldn't come into this forum without people criticizing Trinity's success because of their weak schedule. All were wanting T completely out of the KHSAA, and with the exception of Male, Manual & X, we are playing no one in the KHSAA until the playoffs. So, I understand what you are saying about BG's schedule, and you have a 100% valid point. But you won't get any sympathy from me. Trinity has acquitted themselves very respectably on the national stage and will continue to do so. Whatever criticism is lobbed our way these days is comical considering that this is what the state largely wished for...except they wanted to see us embarrass ourselves. Even in loss, there is no embarrassment. All lessons learned to build on our future. So, I don't give a rats patootie what people think, or what other teams' successes may be. I know that for the Rock fans I know, we are looking to the future and see opportunity for growth in our program. Call it elitist if you like, but I feel it is just the consequence of moving to the "next level". Don't expect any apologies from any Rock fans.

You are misguided. No one is ridiculing T and their schedule. What you just posted is what I was talking about. The elitist attitude of some. You seem to think simply because of T schedule that no matter what they are automatically the best. Playing the schedule they chose to play does not automatically make them the best. That is my point.

Pulling out the sympathy card isn't winning any arguments either. Your comment about the "state" wanted you all to play out of state and not in state is crap. Sounds like the woe is me card has been used.

You continue to miss the point. We really don't care if you play out of state. What does bother some is continuously ignoring any other team that isn't called Trinity as possibly being better this year. That is the elitist attitude I speak of. BG plays a very tough out of district schedule also yet you ignore it as if only T plays tough schedules and no one else does. The difference this year is BG has won their games against tough opponents so far and T hasn't and that seems to be in your crawl.

To those not in the know, Blackman is from Murfreesboro, which is bristling with football talent. Blackman is a relatively new school, but it doesn't surprise me that they're already respected on the gridiron.

I am BGHS's football historian. Would it surprise all of you to know that BGHS almost gave up football at one time? It actually happened. From 1956 to 1958, the Purples had a 26 game winless streak, managing only two uninspiring ties with Glasgow. They didn't, of course, but it came dangerously close! From 1958 to 1974 (my soph year), with few exceptions, the Purples generally had losing records. But the class before me and my senior year (1976) we changed all that. We've had only four non winning seasons since. Purple Nation is awful proud of what the gridiron program has accomplished. Sure, we have our share of arrogant fans too, but never make the mistake that I'm one of them, for I remember when things weren't so great for us. Also, be assured that, when I hear one of ours acting that way, I deal with it...hard!

My position is that I'm honored that Alma Mater is now considered among the ranks of T, X, and H. I humbly thank you for your recognition for years of hard work to get the program to the point where it is now!:thumb:

I miss no points. YOU are the one who stated we were an embarrassment. YOU are the one who says T fans feel they should be above BG in the standings. I can't find one post by a T fan that says that. But in your self appointed, expert opinion, you've assigned that thought to us. But you are full of crap, and bent on feeding that crap to people who won't do the research to see what I am saying is true. You can as well.

As has been stated before, I am not upset our losses. I am also not that BG hasn't lost. In the end, I want 2 things for the Rocks by season's end....another State Championship trophy, and the players returning next year to have experience and seasoning to build our next season.

And by the way, it's craw not crawl. And nothing is stuck in mine.

A program builds over time, and BG has certainly continued steadily on a path to long term success. All recognition is hard earned and you deserve it.

You really need to read the posts in here. Several posts state that T is #1 until an in state beats them

The embarrassed comment was tongue in cheek. Sorry you can't see that. But it does humor me that it got your panties in a bunch. So much so that the grammar nazi came out lol.

BG is #1 according to you also. Glad I could convince you :)

They aren't Trinity posters.

Tongue in cheek my behind. You are back peddling.

And the grammar Nazi is always there. I just usually try to be polite and not call people out in public. Not seeing the need to be polite with you, though.

BG 3-0

Trinity 1-2

BG is #1

You really just have to be stirring the pot. I can't believe that is the base of your decision.

So if Cooper was 1-2 last year after 3 games and they played HHS, Moeller and NCC and let's say Conner started 3-0 against Holmes, Scott and Boone, would you have said Conner was a better team?? No way! That's as silly of an argument as your making saying "well BG is 3-0. Just look at the records." You really don't put any stock into who each team played. X has been talking their team up on here and they felt they'd have a great season. That doesn't mean they are great right now. They may have a tomb of talent, but talent still has to gel. And listening to their fans now, it doesn't seem like they are clicking on all cylinders. That could change next week. But right now one could argue X isn't as good as anticipated.

I'm just making a point that you can't just look at records. BG hasn't played anyone near the teams level that T has played. Playing top programs in the country is waaaayyy different than playing in state comp.

And I really can't believe the "embarrassing KY" statement came off your keyboard. I'm extremely proud to watch them represent KY. Trinity is a class act and rich program. Losing to those two teams by very small margins shows me that they can still coerce on a national level and I'm proud for that. Last two years they came out on top in those genes. This year they understand the talent is down a little but still found a way to compete with the best. Pretty amazing to me.

They are num 1 til X game. Then we can compare.

As for those 4 teams and maybe SC playing a series....WOW, how fun would that be for the fans!

2010 - 9-3 losing to Trinity by two points, Warren Central and Christian County. Out scored opponents 440/112

2011 - 15-0 State Champions with a signature win over St Xavier. Out scored opponents 739/132

2012 - 15-0 State Champions with a signature win over St. Xavier. Out scored opponents 585/159

2013 - 2-0 at this point with a big win over St. Xavier.

Do you see a common denominator here?
I could care less about the past. BG this year looks the best IMO.

T is really good but they don't play BG so if you have to wait till someone in KY beats T then you can do that, myself I prefer to simy go by who looks to be better right now and BG looks to be better.

They may be the best....but how can you say they LOOK the best?

I don't think I said anything to be critical or comical. Matter of fact, I gave T's schedule it's just due. What my point is is that you and others make comments about playing in state teams that you'll dominate and I don't think that can be said about BGs schedule. Sure, it can be said about a lot of schools, but, BG isn't one of those and that's what this topic is about, not a bunch of other teams. I would guess Trinity would go undefeated playing BGs schedule, however, that doesn't mean I think they're the better team this particular year. 9 out of 10 years, that's not the case, but, I think it is this year. Nothing more, nothing less.

Not back peddling at all and if it really bothered you too this much well I'm kind of honored.

And what exactly have I done to you? Simply state BG I think is better right now? Lol. Goes to show the arrogance I was talking about earlier and it sure sounds like I got in your CRAW. Lol

Don't worry, your team will take care of business and get another title this year, you'll just have to cope with being #2 in the state.

They may be the best....but how can you say they LOOK the best?

Comparing the two teams. T has struggled at times and even when

up have allowed other team to come back and win late in game.

T is good, never said they weren't but they don't look like the T in years past.aybe by the end of the year they will but right now they have some areas that need improving. Simple as that. Not knocking them at all just think BG is the more complete team right now.

I am not sure who is the best, but it is a three horse race with BG, H and T. My gut says T is probably the best of the three- let's not lose sight of the fact that their first two loses come to likely state champions in Tennessee and Indiana. Let's also not lose sight of the quality of team H destroyed in their first game.

The top level of Kentucky High School football is REALLY scary good, IMO.
