Thought that the Gary Forrest (used to coach Oldham County) was a good one too, but I don't know if he's still around.

 

Another guy who I thought didn't get the credit he should have was Rodney Rowe (Shelby Valley's former coach).

 

Ask me again in a year or two and Daniel Brown (Henry Clay) may be in the top five. I know he's not necessarily 'young', but I think he's got his best years ahead of him. Same thing goes for Scott Hundley (Woodford County).

 

Gary Forrest's last year was 2007-08, I'm pretty sure.

I'd take Scott Humphrey if I could have any of them.

I really like Coach Britt at Mercer Co. He gives his players freedom to make plays and it looks like the kids love playing for him. I know I would have. He is constantly coaching and motivating. Mercer Co better make a commitment to him before a big school comes in and swoops him up. Some other top coaches in my opinion are Steve Wright ( SW ) Rodney Woods ( Wayne Co ) and the best coach I've ever had and still to this day haven't seen any better is Coach Greg Schepman, my middle school ( lol ) coach back at Boyle Co Middle School.

I've got no argument with a lot of the names already mentioned here. But, I'll toss one out that I don't think gets anywhere near the credit for what he's done, especially considering where he's at (small, rural, public school)...and that's Gallatin County's Jon Jones.

Rodney Woods of Wayne County definitely would be in my top 5. Can't believe I forgot him. What he gets out of what he has is nothing short of amazing.

Dale Mabrey (PRP) is definitely someone that should be mentioned. His track record speaks for itself.

He's another one I forgot. It's hard to narrow the list down to five, but I'd say that Hicks, Mabrey, Renner, Woods, and Breeden would be my top five if looking at their entire careers. Henley and Booher are a little younger, so the next parts of their careers would go a long way in determining where they'd rank.
