August 12, 201313 yr Batting 6th and playing LF Ludwick........Ludwick. So how will he do? Wasn't exactly tearing it up in rehab stint in minors but that could be expected. Does this jolt the Reds offense? Geez if they can't score against the Cubbies and Brew Crew it might be a really bad sign. I mean: Choo Dusty's choice of infielder Votto Phillips Bruce Ludwick The other one not batting second Catcher of the Day Pitcher Should be able to score some runs against bad teams or at home right?
August 12, 201313 yr You sure he going to bat 6th? He was going to be cleanup and I don't see it any other way. Choo Phillips Votto Ludwick Bruce Frazier Meso/Hanigan Cozart Pitcher That looks fairly better than it has the whole season. Ludwick won't do what he did last year, but he could produce a nice spark to this offense that is much needed. Glad to have him back
August 12, 201313 yr Author Yes, Robinson is going down. Dusty says 6th. I think Phillips has done good work in the 4 slot and it would be a lot of pressure on Ludwick to come back after missing the entire season and bat 4th.
August 12, 201313 yr Robinson probably gets sent down. If I'm the manager my lineup looks like this: Choo Votto Phillips Bruce Ludwick Mesoraco Frazier Cozart Pitcher
August 12, 201313 yr "Great things take time" Expect to see improvement day by day. Give him 10-15 days to get back into the full swing of things.
August 12, 201313 yr Can't remember if I heard it on the radio or on tv during the game yesterday but they made a great point about Ludwick and his terrible hitting during his rehab. In the majors you get so accustomed to the in depth scouting reports and video that hitting almost isn't what it was growing up, see the ball, hit the ball. So when players go on rehab assignments and they don't have all the tools they do at the major league level, they are left trying to guess on pitchers they never see. Just one take on why he may have hit so poorly.
August 12, 201313 yr Really hard for me to take Phillips out of the #4 hole for a guy who hasn't played since Opening Day. I'd let him get used to seeing some Major League pitching again before I put Ludwick in cleanup.
August 12, 201313 yr Phillips stays at 4, unless Ludwick gets hot at some point, then move BP to 2 hole!
August 12, 201313 yr If I'm the manager my lineup looks like this: Choo Votto Phillips Bruce Ludwick Mesoraco Frazier Cozart Pitcher Now that's just crazy talk there. Two left-handers hitting back-to-back? Four right-handers in a row? Crazy, I tell you! :lol2:
August 12, 201313 yr Now that's just crazy talk there. Two left-handers hitting back-to-back? Four right-handers in a row? Crazy, I tell you! :lol2: :lol2: I want my best hitters getting the most AB's as possible. I think Votto is a perfect #2 hitter.
August 12, 201313 yr :lol2: I want my best hitters getting the most AB's as possible. I think Votto is a perfect #2 hitter. Oh, I'm right there with you. I was just giving you some grief about going against Dusty's philosophy. At the beginning of the year, though, I liked the mix of L-R-L-R-L-R through the top 6 that he had planned. But, right now, I think you have to look at the way this team struggles to score runs sometimes, and you have to put your best hitters together so that at least you can threaten every 2 to 3 innings.
