Hate to hear that. I've taken a couple brief sabbaticals from BGP but eventually end up lurking around after a few months. I wish you & your family the best.

This sucks. That is the easiest way to describe you leaving LRCW. While I haven't always been the most active poster, I have been around and reading for a bit of time and always enjoyed your posts. You will be missed by everyone here. If you ever need anything, I'm sure you know where you can turn.

An online community, such as BGP, is really a little island unto itself. The people on it are a sort of micro-culture, which has its own set of rules, protocols and traditions. We know each other only by names like Guru, Watusi, Birdsfan…and LRCW. We may also know each other in other contexts, by other names. But those people who we are outside of BGP are not always the same as they are here. We all wear different masks at different times. So, in a sense, our BGP personas are people who exist only in this place.

 

The point I’m trying to get at is that losing one of our members – especially one as well-known and respected as LRCW – is a little like a death, within the context of this place we share. Those of us who know the person who is LRCW only by means of this site may never read his words again, nor engage him in conversation. And in a weird way, that is kind of like a death.

 

We’ve suffered the real world death of several of our BGP friends over the years, and of course that is infinitely more profound and heartbreaking. But this parting is sad in its own way. For more than a decade, our friend LRCW has has helped to make BGP the place it is. And, like many of us, he has made “real world” friendships that will last a lifetime. We will miss the poster named LRCW, and we wish the man behind that name all the best in the world.

 

I will miss you, my friend, but I’ll see you on Facebook. God bless you and your family. And remember, the BGP door is always open. Although, once you make a big deal about leaving, you should never come back. Well, that’s just not something I would do anyway.

It's always a sad occasion when a member that has been around a long time and has thousands of post leaves the site. I hate to see you go. I have enjoyed reading your posts.

Well this sucks. Take a cruise with the wife totally isolated from 4G or wifi, come back and LRCW is gone. I'll miss you on BGP but hopefully I'll still get to mark defeating you in Words With Friends off of my bucket list. Take care and I hope to see you soon one day.
