I visited Big Art's grave a couple weeks ago. He was a beast.

Give me Sam Flynn, Jeremy Madden and Brett Deitz. We win. Game over.

 

Pound for pound, Madden was a stud. He was only 5'9" or so, and a buck-fifty dripping wet. He and Galen Healey were incredible in that aspect.

 

I say the twins Schulte, and Artie for the top three. Hornsby, Hladon, McCormick, Bir, Mike Woolf, Dietz, and Timmerman are high up on the list too.

Both players class never won a state championship ring but Rick was truly a stud on a team that was just getting started. Bir? He literately broke or tied almost every QB stat that CovCath has.

 

The third I leave that up to someone else as there are so, so many good one

I remember Mitchell Jobe at state. He was a beast. He pretty much controlled that State game by himself. One of the hardest noses runners for sure

How about Alex Connelly? Didn't he break a lot of the receiving records at Covcath as well as being a state champ in track?

Ted Edgington should be considered also. Not only for his physical ability but also his leadership.

I agree on Mike Woolf and Madden. I remember one of the Schulte's being much better than the other, just couldn't tell which one. Bir was very good, but Hladon and McCormick were a cut about. Timmerman wasn't even top three on that team. Connelly, Ritter and Way were all better than he. He was a nice player, but other than the fumble return never had the impact in big games the other 3 did.

Didn't Galen Healey start at RB for back-to-back champs? I know that he was on at least one.

I'd start my list with Rick Hornsby being number one and everyone else falling in behind him. Hornsby was an exceptional football player and is a quality individual.

Galen was behind Mitchell Jobe in the '93 season when they won. He started his senior year in the '94 championship.
