June 6, 201313 yr What was selling on the stock market? On cnbc it shows what a gallon of gas sells for on the market.
June 6, 201313 yr Filled up last night for $3.66' date=' this morning it's $3.99[/quote'] This to me is the reason most people complain and have conspiracy theories about the gas. It is not uncommon to see jumps in the price of .20 to .30 overnight. You almost never (maybe literally never) see prices drop by that amount. The factors of the price of gasoline vary and people have differing opinions on them, but it should stand to reason that the same factors that can cause a huge price jump should also cause a huge decrease from time to time. There is a general distrust for the way gasoline business is done.

June 6, 201313 yr Couldn't tell you. I only know a few folks who buy new cars. 85% of the people I know buy used cars. I figure if you can buy a new car you shouldn't complain about gas prices. I disagree. I just bought a brand new car because I'm 24 and the one I've had since I started driving (it was used when I got it) was at the end of it's life. I ended up getting a better deal (and MPG) on the brand new car than on some of the 20k-30k mile cars I looked at. Plus I want to start looking to get a house here in the next few years and I don't want to have to go out and get a new car when I'm paying a mortgage. And I still worry about gas prices.
June 6, 201313 yr I sure hope that whoever is making the profit(s) off this is paying their fair share of income taxes. Incidentally the Commonwealth of Kentucky has raised, or is about to raise, its tax about 2 cents per gallon based on a law that ties such an increase with the wholesale price of gas. The thinking being, that when gas prices rise, people will drive less, thus the need to increase the tax on the gallons sold to maintain a certain level of revenue.

June 6, 201313 yr Why would we want someone policing it? Do you enjoy 30 cent jumps then a 2-5 cent reduction every 5 days?
June 6, 201313 yr so are you guys saying that the 550 a month I was spending in gas a month will now go up.
June 6, 201313 yr Another issue concerns those that claim the national rate for fuel reimbursement. Getting hosed right now.
June 6, 201313 yr Depends on what you consider fair? Good point. Whatever is due under the tax laws may not be fair in some people's minds.
