It was selling on the stock market today for $2.85 a gallon.

Not sure. Why do you assume it's just the wholesale vs the other 3 components?

Taxes are state and federal and from a Cincy Market to Myrtle Beach won't be dramatically different. Transporting the gas, well a trucker in SC doesn't make 30k more a year than a guy in Cincy delivering or else they would all work in SC. Completion is relative to the whole cost o who can make a nickel or dime a gallon.

Why do you assume taxes are the same?

Everything I've read said that delivery costs can cause a decent delta.

Add in that states and locales have different rules as to the actual blend allowed and we're not automatically talking apples to apples.

It's the overall cost to get the gas to Cincy from the refinery. Not just what the driver makes. Is there a refinery close to Myrtle Beach? What about Cincy?

It's times like these that I'm glad I don't own a truck but do own a motorcycle, a lot easier on the pocketbook.

Driving home from West Chester today I seen 4.19

Haven't been anywhere near $4.00 in NKY recently....

3.99 in Alexandria

You think the taxes are that much different to warrant a dollar per gallon difference?

Does SC have a refinery? There are over 100 refineries in he US according to wiki. Prob is the oil companies won't run them at full speed, creating the gas tightness. Enron did something very similar in California before they collapsed.

Don't have long so I'll just say this. When was the last time we built a new refinery? We needed quiet a few more of them years ago. Plus, even if we are pumping more and more in the U.S., the Saudi's can control the market price by limiting their output.

If that were so Catlettsburg, Ky would be cheaper than Lexington, Ky.

RP makes them, and I distribute them.

The Saudis aren't as controlling as they used to be. Heck, they've got their own potential shortage issues just running their own country. The amount of oil required to run equipment to pump water is staggering.

We haven't added many/any refineries BUT the refineries have increased capacity over the recent years.
