May 30, 201313 yr That sounds like a high school love note.... Well, it works for us and sells merch. Sounds like a genius marketing plan to me.
May 30, 201313 yr Neither did Louisville. The tax payers of Louisville did or will have eventually and the red army won't let outsiders in.
May 30, 201313 yr You put in an arena that's robbing the city but lining the pockets of Louisville athletics also helps :thumb: The contract between The Yum Center and UL is so one sided that it is ridiculous. That is what happens when people with conflicts of interest make the decisions. The taxpayers will be the ones footing the bill though........ for many years.
May 30, 201313 yr Author The tax payers of Louisville did or will have eventually and the red army won't let outsiders in. Name an NBA organization that would share an arena with a college team? And when we say share, I'm talking 30+ dates between October and March...

May 30, 201313 yr The tax payers of Louisville did or will have eventually and the red army won't let outsiders in. The lack of interest in the NBA is what keeps it from coming here. J. Bruce Miller likes to talk about how "passionately" folks used to support the Kentucky Colonels back in the day, when the facts are they were lucky to get 5,000-6,000 a night at 18,000-seat Freedom Hall, and that's to come watch a roster rigged with a bunch of ex-UK players so as to draw folks in from outside L'ville. The city of Louisville (general public and business community) on its own can't support 50+ dates per year on top of the 20-some-odd that UofL currently plays. For the NBA to work in Louisville, it requires the rest of the state to help make the nut, and the bottom line is the rest of the state is so stupidly anti-Louisville that it would never happen. Unless there are thousands of people with KY zip codes on the Pacers' season ticket rolls, which we all know isn't the case.

May 30, 201313 yr Wizards, Grizzlies, Bucks? Exactly. Teams do it already. For my money the Yum Center is the nicest arena in college basketball. But you are kidding yourself if you think that was not built to (potentially) support an NBA team.

Many do not realize but the Tigers are well supported in the Memphis area with the same type of dynamic of being the city's school despite being in the UT Volunteer state. Huge following. Many had the same concerns when the Grizzlies relocated to town but they seem to have managed just fine. Population wise they are very similar. The most important that is to have a good product.
May 30, 201313 yr Louisville 1st Cards forever. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard from a fan base trying to coin up a phrase. Who the heck came up with that?
May 30, 201313 yr Louisville 1st Cards forever has been around for a while now. I'm shocked some of you are just now taking advantage of it and making fun of it.
