Did any teams bring JV players down to play?

While I would like to see all team stick with this, it just isn't practical for some. This year I know Beechwood has some kids who play a great deal of JV playing in the Tourney games.

My question is why isn't it practical? If the freshmen team survived/played all year without those kids, then why do you need them come tournament time?

 

For the record, Dixie did not bring down any players.

 

And all games are canceled for today. Rescheduling for tomorrow is being worked on now.

Just from the numbers I know, which would be Cooper's....Freshman squad is carrying 18 kids, of which two or three are 8th graders and 1 is a 7th grader. Four freshmen are playing up. Doing the very simple math, every actual 9th grader at Cooper is not going to make the cut next year for JV or later for Varsity. Let those kids play now, while they are still contributing. The "up" kids are obviously better and will have their day, if they don't already in the JV and Varsity tournaments. I see no merit in anyone playing beneath their abilities, even if their age or grade says they are allowed to do so.

I really don't get the whole argument against bringing freshmen down that have been playing JV. It's high school baseball not knothole. People need to get over the whole "every Johnny gets a ribbon" mentality. Kids are playing up for a reason.... they are thought to bring more to the team in whatever capacity. Come tournament time you play the best eligible team you can field. I guess the majors shouldn't send players down to the minors as they are taking little Bobby's spot. Stop whinning, help your freshman or eighth grader get better and maybe he'll get the chance to play up.

CCH brought down 2 to lose to HHS....

2 or 1 whatever I guess Highlands JV pitcher made a bigger difference than cch's 2. Regardless if the kid hasn't played freshman all year what do you gain by bringing them down for the freshman tournament
