Just got a text update.

Ryle 8 Conner 7

Highlands 9 Campbell Co 2

Ryle and Highlands will play tomorrow for the championship at 5 at Morscher Park.

Campbell Co. Chose no to bring their freshman down from JV and it hurt them. Highlands did and they played most if not all the game. If CC had done that it might of made a difference. Highlands scored 8 runs in 2 innings. After that CC shut them down. But too much to early. Cant spot anyone 8 and expect to win.

P.S. Most obnoxious fans we saw all year. Its ok to cheer your team on, but making fun of the other player is childish. Just saying.........

Please tell me what JV players Highlands brought down to play most of the game? As for obnoxious fans, I was there for quite a bit of the game and heard absolutely nothing going on with fans, so what gives with this comment?

Well that right there answers your own question.......:lol2: Just kidding............

Are you sure it was the fans? Ive been to several HHS games, fans rarely say anything other than cheer for their team. Now, their dugout, particularly one kid, is the worst Ive seen all year. Chatter is one thing, but the things that group does is bush, and IMO should be stopped. Its not just the birds, garbage goes on everywhere, and I wish the coaches and umpires would put a stop to it. Its one thing to chatter a bit, but clear and blatant attempts to distract the pitcher should not be tolerated. Kids on the bench at hoops games are not allowed to yell at a free throw shooter, why should there be any difference in baseball?

Similar experience at the CCH @ HHS game........It made me wish I was at a 3rd grade girls' volleyball game..... just flat out screaming.

beyond childish and if you think the Head Coach doesn't agree or sanction it, you are wrong.......or at least he allows it. I sat down the 3rd base line in the park and I heard it....he coached third !

So, you would risk injuring a kid from an opposing team because of a coaches decision. This is high school baseball; freshman at that, not the pro's.

I look at it as if the coach that is running the score up (in any sport) is putting his own players at risk. I'm not saying don't play hard but take a base at a time. Work on your lead and secondary lead. I've seen teams bunting and stealing up 15 runs. Full court pressing in basketball up 30 points. You can only get kicked in the onions so many times before you finally decide to stand up for yourself. As a coach, I would never put my players in jeopardy of injury from retaliation because I ran the score up. Not my style.

Sorry for quoting myself.....BUT this comment was about the Varsity game......not the Frosh game. Sorry.

Congrats on the region.

No takers on this? A guy with 17 posts tosses this one out there and then doesn't follow up? Not super familiar with the JV or Frosh rosters, but most of the key contributors I have seen at the JV level have been sophomores.

Congrats to the Baby Birds! As I said in the JV thread, lots of these players will be asked to contribute at the JV level next year with JV players moving up to fill in for 9 departing seniors. Great to see quality and commitment throughout the program getting an opportunity to contribute and be prepared for the next level when it comes. Lots of positive things going on with HHS Baseball right now.

Congratulations to the Bluebirds and Coach Mark Taylor. It takes a lot to win a regional championship at any level and you were able to get it done. Congratulations once again!
