Kentucky Recruiting 2015

Interesting class to see is the landscape is shifting at all. Hopefully Cal gets Newman or Brown. Cal will always have top 5 classes but the uber elite guys are finding alternate stops it seems lately.

There aren't any uber elite guys in this class. Simmons and Brown are the two best but they both have holes. 3-20 are about the same. Good but not great...

I just sense the landscape is shifting some but Cal will always get his.

Eh. When he starts missing on the truly elite guys on a regular basis, maybe. With a class like this, you just identify the top 30 guys and decide which ones you think fit best. Easier to do when you aren't leaving future all stars on the table...

When did Duke become a "rival" of Kentucky. I thought that was reserved for Louisville, Florida, and Tennessee.

When UK fans decided to make Duke a rival.

Is this class better than the 2012 class with Nerlens, Bazz, and Bennett? That class was pretty weak, we looking at the same situation or is this 2015 a little more talented?

More talent overall, but equally weak at the top. I didn't find myself going out of my way to watch any of the 2015 guys this spring or summer outside of getting an initial viewing. That is my tell tale sign of a class that lacks star power...

You got spoiled with the most recent draft class.

Was more that the 2016 guys were a bigger draw when mapping out the UC targets on my list. I just wasn't compelled to work out multiple viewings of the 2015 guys after getting a look or two...

When the Louisville series became one sided.

2016 is going to be sick, especially if Maker stays. He would likely be #1 (or Simmons) in this class. He may end up being anywhere from 1-7 next year.

Latest on Jaylan Brown, looks like he will be going to UCLA.

But Brown's quotes about adidas from this past weekend shouldn't be taken lightly. Here are the quotes from BruinSportsReport.com:

"adidas very much looks out," Brown said. "They take care of me and my team and they talk to me about things. They make me feel welcome. I know a lot of the reps and a lot of the head guys.

"Definitely going to an adidas school, I definitely feel a lot more welcome and a lot more comfortable with that other than a Nike or Under Armour side just because I'm more comfortable with adidas. I've been playing on the circuit for two or three years now so it's definitely good."

There's no way you can read those quotes and think adidas won't be a major factor in his recruitment.

I spoke with someone close to Brown's recruitment who said that adidas has made an impression on Brown and that UCLA's staff feels so comfortable that Brown will be a Bruin that they're telling other recruits they can be a part of a great class with Brown.

Brandon-Ingram.jpg

According to the all-knowing Evan Daniels, 2015 small forward Brandon Ingram will visit Kentucky for Big Blue Madness on October 17, a week after checking out Kansas’ Late Night at the Phog. Ingram is considered the fourth best small forward in his class, and most think it’s down to Duke or North Carolina for his services, but a visit to Lexington on the program’s biggest night could change that.

So far, the BBM guest list includes Stephen Zimmerman, Carlton Brag, and Derryck Thornton (2016). Antonio Blakeney said he will probably come, and the staff is trying their hardest to get Jaylen Brown on campus as well.
