April 15, 201313 yr As the resident BGP lawncare expert, I am happy to inform you that it's that time of the season, enjoy boys and girls. BTW, I have done more than my fair share of cutting grass in my lifetime, but don't have to do it anymore. My front yard is a two-tiered rock wall, backyard is a two-tiered deck, & replaced the grass between the front sidewalk and street with pavers. NO GRASS, NO WEED-EATING!!!!!!! :ylsuper: you need to change your name to concrete boy or rockwall boy, or deck boy :laugh::laugh::laugh: My wife was asking why I was laughing so loud, then I showed her this.
April 15, 201313 yr Haven't had to now mine yet. Live on a hill and the grass is weird on it. Mowed for my girlfriend's mom Saturday and will for my mom on Tuesday.

April 15, 201313 yr In full disclosure I do not actually hate mowing, it is just the thought of mowing and knowing I have to revolve my week around it is what I hate. And that wears on your mind because it seems mowing season never ends. Once I get out there I am fine and it is kind of cool checking out your yard post-mow, especially if it looks really good. I am going to be away from the house about 1/2 of the weekends through the summertime with races. I plan to knock out the first month, month and a half, then I am going to give someone $200 and see if that can buy me 8 mows or so to cover when I am gone or not feeling it that weekend because of my training schedule. Then, for my birthday in late August I will request for my parents to get me one month of mowing for the guy they use. That will get me through September and by that time it doesn't matter.

April 15, 201313 yr My mower is on the fritz but my grass needs cut. I may tinker with it today, dont want to be "That guy" on the street with 8 inch grass. Too late, You were already "That Guy" before your grass grew 8". J/K....
April 15, 201313 yr Mulch tip - keep it 6 inches from foundation of house and fill that area instead with stones, bark, wood chips, etc. Reduces amount of crawling creatures from getting through cracks into house.

Got out my old reliable 14 HP JD lawn tractor,20 years old and it still runs like new. I mow 3/4 of an acre. This mower is 20 years old and the only maintenance it had done to it was change the drive belts, and change the spark plug one time since new. Oil and filter are changed yearly. I have tons of weed eating to do and hate it like everyone else. I have an Echo weed eater that starts up after the third pull after sitting all winter. I have an Echo chain saw and blower that I like too. This brand cost a bit more than others, but you will never get worn out by trying to get them started.

April 15, 201313 yr I mow about 3 acres so I have an Exmark, which is starting it's 13th year with no issues at all. I change the oil, air filter and fuel filter every year and I keep it clean. I hate weedeating so I outline everything with Roundup so I just have to mow. I have all Stihl equipment if needed though.
