Shining Star (Shover) finished pool play 2-1 today in the ALL-OHIO NIKE SUPER SIXTEEN SHOWCASE and advance to play in Gold Bracket play Sunday.

They beat Hidden Gems White in the first Pool Play game 68-46. Then beat Ohio Phenoms 49-45 in the second game. And then lost the third game 54-50 to The Trust Derek Smith All-Stars (from KY... not real sure why they weren't playing in the state tourney?)

Two NKY boys play for Shining Star Shover. Bo Schuh averaged 8 points per game and Liam Rabe averaged 7 points per game.

First Bracket game Sunday is against Windy City Magic (IL).

NKY Bulldogs will be playing in the elite 8 of the Ky State AAU tourney, against Charlotte Court. Dre Jackson got his first dunk in a game with a real nice 2-handed flush! The whole team is contributing and playing pretty well. Dre Jackson with 14pts, Matt Mullins with 12pts/11.5rebs, Mitch Bolin with 8pts/3blks, Andrew Hedger 8pts/7rebs, Austin Schreck 6pts/6asts. Pracht, Dougherty, Shumate, and Ross are also playing very well within the team. Stats to come for them...

Sean Ross and Matt Shumate (shooting very well) have been real nice additions to the team after injury to fellow Bulldog Matt Isbel.

Derby State Thoroughbreds 14u defeated the 2nd ranked team in Ohio - Next Level this morning 57-46 then Indiana Elite in the Semi-Finals 64-46 before losing to two time national Champion Indy Hoosiers in the championship game of the Hoosier Invitational Tournament. Thoroughbreds go to Atlanta next week for the Nike Memorial Day Classic

Like Bo Schuh's game. Hard nosed, good rebounder, and pulling it together offensively.

Thank you. A real tribute to this group of boys and their hard work and team play. They made it to the Final 4 at state and were upended by the State champs, Next Level Retros, a really well built team with size, speed, strength, and athleticism.

Weekend preview: Travelers shooting for Peach Jam

The Nike EYBL regular season wraps up this weekend in Minneapolis, and the Kentucky-based Travelers still have a good shot of advancing to the Nike Peach Jam tournament later this summer.

The Travelers take a 7-6 record into the Minneapolis session, which will include five games to sort out the 24 teams that qualify for the Peach Jam. The top five teams from each of the four divisions will automatically qualify, along with four wild cards which will be chosen based on best overall record.

Florida-based Each 1 Teach 1 currently has a two-game lead in Division D, where the Travelers are in a four-way tie for second place.

It could be tough for any team from Division D to win one of the four wild-card spots. Going into the weekend, there are six teams that have records of 7-6 or better but are not among the top five in their division.

Knott Central star Camron Justice is leading the Travelers with 12.2 points per game through the first three sessions. Perry Central’s Justin Johnson leads the squad with 6.5 rebounds per game, and high school teammate Braxton Beverly — the only 2016 player on the team — is the leading passer with 3.5 assists per game.

Lafayette forward Jackson Davis is averaging 8.2 points and 5.3 rebounds. He’s missed seven games after suffering an injury in the EYBL’s opening session, but he returned to the court earlier this month.

The Travelers lost this morning.

I got the chance to meet NCC's Jake Schulte and his family last night. He says they are playing today in Columbus.

What tourney is that?

What tourney is that?

I think it's the All Ohio Future Stars Showdown. What team does he play for? Shining Stars has 3 teams in the Jr division.
