KY AAU Teams 2013

Featured Replies

That was Shover's team and they were missing two bigs all weekend due to injury. One of the kids missing was their leading scorer and rebounder. The other was a 6'6 thicker, muscular kid who is the starting center. They would have beaten the Club Ohio team rather easily if everyone were there. Kunstek played ok... had most of his points from garbage rebounds because he often had a guard trying to box him out. Would love to see them play again because Club Ohio has some kids with big mouths on the court.

Same with the U17 team. They get it honest though. I've seen their coach get T's in 2 different games and even tossed from one of the games.

Who ate the two guys who were missing? I haven't heard much about Shining Stars and I've been reading up on the AAU teams.

Big kid is Mitch Moorhead from Elder... he's an inch taller than Bo Schuh and thicker with muscles.

The kid who was the leader in points and rebounds before he got hurt is Blake Walsman. He is from Batesville, Indiana... I think he used to be part of the Indiana Elite program. He is about an inch shorter than Bo Schuh and the same build.

Don't most AAU teams play without guys all the time? You have to play to win games no matter who is on the floor. It's like saying the Bulls would have beaten the Heat with Rose. You just don't know. Play with who shows up and win the game. Otherwise, wait til next time.

On the flip side, I have seen random kids show up and play for teams they have never played for. Watched Club Ohio do that last year in a tourney in Cincinnati.

Whoever shows up is who is on that team, that weekend.

Speaking of Shining Stars, how are the 2 No. KY kids doing for them? Haven't heard much.

Who all will be at the KBA tonight?

Wow I didn't know they were playing for that team. Both started off with Club Ohio last year but neither finished. Its good to hear they have somewhere to play and are doing well. That Club Ohio team was really good last year. They actually ended up in AAU's national preseason power rankings because of their season last year.

Ha yeah welcome to AAU basketball. Teams switch all the time, especially in the summer. Some kids quit their team over playing time, other teams break up because they run out of funding. Some kids play multiple sports. A lot of the bigger programs just add new kids if some quit instead of breaking up. Its not that uncommon. Kids want to play.

LOL. You just hate it when it happens between pool play and bracket play.

We all do.

If it happens I'll be the one laughing the loudest :)
PP92 did you here me laughing... Manimal 68- Magic 52
Everybody just needs to let the kids play and decide it on the court. I'm sure team manimal has a nice team but the magic would mop the floor with them. Period!! We will find out next weekend who has the best teams!! Its time to put up or shut up. I wish all the teams the best of luck. I think the 15u division will have the best games. Look for some unknown names make a big impact.
Must have forgot the bucket of water lol Manimal 68- Magic 52

I have to say that I enjoyed watching Manimal play because they were well coached and played as a TEAM. Having said that, don't get too cocky just yet. That was only the first game of pool play....

This isn't how I saw things tonight.

Derby State Racers 12u team has only been defeated once this year by the #1 team in the nation All Ohio Red. The Racers 12u play another Kentucky team, KYWA Magic in the round of 16 of the HITT Tournament in Indianapolis.

Derby State Thoroughbreds 14u team has advanced to the final 8 of the HITT Tournament tomorrow, they will play the #2 team in Ohio, Next Level. If the Thoroughbreds can make the finals they will more than likely meet the #5 team in the country, the Indy Hoosiers.
