KY AAU Teams 2013

Featured Replies

Who played well? It looks like they played some pretty good teams/programs down there. Congrats on a good season!

The Ville 2015 is still playing. Went 3 - 0 in pool play. Upset E1T1 in the Sweet Sixteen but loose to a tough Nike Team Florida by 5, who is playing in to final tomorrow. The Ville 2015 is playing in the 5th/6th place game @ 9:25 tomorrow morning. Great Showing.....

Club Ohio U16 at Nationals in Orlando

2-1 in pool play, so second in pool

L-W-L in bracket

final game to New York City Rocks loss 52-53

Good showing by boys from Ohio and NKY. Several surprisingly close games.

You done good. Rest and relax before HS ball begins!

Good for them! I know St. Henry's Connor Kunstek plays for them. Anyone know how he did? I've heard some good things about him this summer, and that he's making the transition to the perimeter. Hopefully he's doing well.

Any other Ky kids on this team?

Just talked to the coach. Apparantly he did really well. Two of the three losses they had at nationals were to teams that finished in the top five. They were beating the nationals runner up at the half by 5 before their best player (and probably the best junior in Cincinnati) who had been averaging close to 30 a game got hurt for the rest of the game. Then Connor helped carry the team the rest of the way but they did not pull it out. Connor had a great summer and was one of the main reasons for their success.

There aren't any other Ky kids on the team. I recall early in the year that Beetle Bolden was flirting with the possibility of playing on that team before the Travelers came calling.

The NKY Bulldogs U15 and U16 teams competed in the GRBA National tournament this past weekend. The U16 group went to the silver bracket elite eight and the U15 group lost in the gold bracket finals by 1 point. The U15 group had nice wins over Common Bond from Michigan and the Indy Elite Club team. There were tons of coaches at this event and several of them stopped by to check out the Bulldogs.

Myo Baxter--Lakota East

Great player. Genuine kid, too.

Speaking of Bolden, how did the Travelers U16 and U17 teams do in Kansas City this past weekend? Anyone have any information?

16U Bulldogs were without 3 players this past weekend, and still performed admirably. Austin Schreck (starting PG, combo guard, and a leader on the floor) was out with a wrist injury, Jaeger Pracht (guard, high energy, leads the team in defense and steals) was out on vacation, and Andrew Hedger (starting post player, tough, strong) missed 2 games with football. Then, when Hedger showed up Matt Shumate ( shooter, 40% from 3) had to leave for other arrangements. Even with those guys out the rest of the Bulldogs (Dougherty, Jackson, Mullins, Ross, Bolin, liechty), fought and battled each game. No game was ever out of reach, all losses ended close, and they had two wins where they had to come back from 11 and 18 down. Great group of young men that we can't wait to see grow this winter.

I think they won both divisions.

I just read where TBC Elite and the 606 Tropics have both won their opening round pool games at AAU DIII nationals. Congrats.

The NKY Jazz U17 coached by Kevin Bundy (Brossart's Varsity Assistant) had a nice run in Orlando.

At the Super showcase they went 1-2 in pool play than 1-1 in Bracket play.

In the D1 Nationals they won their pool going 3-0 to advance to the Gold bracket. They ended up losing 2 tough games to end their run.

Overall 5-5 for the 2 tournaments. They also received lots of compliments over how well coached and how well disciplined the team was. They created a lot of havoc for your typical AAU teams by running solid offensive sets and tough man to man D.

Congrats to the Jazz. Not 100% sure but I think they ended up the summer season around 30-9 and captured 4 tournament championships.

Why is TBC Elite playing D3??? They are better then that.. What age group?

This is great to hear! 30-9 is pretty impressive, so I have to ask, what tournaments did they play in? If they lost 5 in Orlando, and i believe 2 at state, that puts them at 7 losses. This meaning only 2 losses in all other tournaments. That, again, is quite impressive. Did they play at any Adidas/NCAA events other than Orlando? Are any of these kids drawing college interest? I hope so. They have some of the better players in NKy.

I just asked a parent. They were 31-13. I must have missed a few games. :thumb:

They did play in the Hoosier Shootout. That would be 2 more losses. I'm not sure how many games they won in that tourney before being ousted. Trentman has already received a D2 offer and in Indy several coaches were on hand to see academic standouts Burns and Rieger who will for sure be able to play at least at the D3 level for a top academic institution.

Pulliam and Holbrook also have potential to play hoops after next year.

606 and TBC both will advance to championship bracket. TBC probably went D3 for two reasons. One, didn't want to go to Arkansas for D1 or D2 and the Wilson kid isn't playing because of football. They picked up Austin Fries from SK which is a very nice replacement for Wilson. Fries is very active and has most post moves than Wilson but is two inches shorter than Wilson.

I understand not wanting to go to Arkansas and from what I saw the D1 and D2 tournaments did not field very well. The only drawback I see is that the D3 tournament is not an NCAA certified event. It would be nice to see one of these teams win it all though.
