Goetz is playing really well. Wallenhorst did not make the trip due to a prior committment.

Good for the NKY Bulldogs! I like the Swindall kid. A Bullish guard who appears to know the game pretty well.

Goetz has been very solid in my opinions! Has been starting and appears to be getting more comfortable in his role of being a leader, and lead by example type of player on the team.Makes plays when he needs to and creates for teammates. Wallenhorst really has a lot of upside, 6'4 ish and active around the rim, solid midrange game.

Really like the games of Ethan Snapp, Hunter Swindall and Andy Flood as well. Before Flood got banged up, he has shown his ability to score and be a hustle guy. Austin Sweeney hit a game winning runner in the lane to beat Purple Elite in round 1 of BP, and it was awesome!

The team is missing 3 key contributors this weekend in Dalton Frasure, Andy Flood and Wallenhorst, but Coach Murphy has those guys really playing hard, smart basketball. Sweet 16 of the Gold Bracket. Good luck tomorrow morning!

3. A little perspective: let us assume there is a Magic-Manimal matchup. Once the game is over and the winning team's parents are done crowing, we can bus both teams straight up to Detroit or Chicago and watch them both get clobbered by 25 points. And why is that other team running up the score? Because they themselves just lost by 30 points to DC Assault or Meanstreets or whomever. This is not meant to denigrate our local scene, but we should call it what it is -- a local scene, and a nice one, where we tend to be familiar with most of the players and coaches. We should appreciate the talent we have, celebrate the KY hoopsters who occasionally make it onto the bigger stage, and quit going at one another like we are somehow the ones out on the court. It's bad karma.

....stepping out of pulpit....

It is funny that you would say that Manimal would lose to Meanstreets by 30 if they played them. They actually did play them earlier this season and only lost by 2. All this while Manimal was playing without 3 of their better players. At the same tournament they beat Mac Irvin Fire, another EYBL team out of Chicago, convincingly. So Your hypothetical situation that actually happened is invalid.

At the end of the day, I just want to see all these teams play each other, and I wish them all the best of luck.

Well, I'm a big enough guy to admit a mistake and that part of my post obviously involved a mistake. Thanks for setting the record straight, and best of luck to all!

Derby State Thoroughbreds 14 u went 2-0 in pool play beating Ohio Unity & Wisconsin Playground Warriors before losing on Sunday afternoon in the final 4 of the Adidas May Classic to St. Louis Gateway Basketball club.

Well done! :thumb:

Everybody just needs to let the kids play and decide it on the court. I'm sure team manimal has a nice team but the magic would mop the floor with them. Period!! We will find out next weekend who has the best teams!! Its time to put up or shut up. I wish all the teams the best of luck. I think the 15u division will have the best games. Look for some unknown names make a big impact.

I just want these teams to play so we can put an end to this silly discussion!

I've heard the soph Shining Stars team will consist of the following:

Liam Rabe- Dixie

Bo Schuh- Covcath

Deandre (???) Jackson- Campbell Co

Robert Tubbs- Sycamore...possible nky transfer???

Someone correct me if any of those names are incorrect.

Robert Tubbs and Bo Schuh were playing on the Shining Stars (Schwallie?) team this past weekend at the Adidas tourney in Bloomington. I don't know about the other players you listed.

I don't think Robert Tubbs is a NKY transfer. He used to play with Bolden, Covington, Potter and Kunstek on Family 2 and later AOP.

Shining Stars lost to Club Ohio on Sunday in Bloomington (66-61 Club Ohio). Club Ohio's Connor Kunstek (St Henry) had a nice game, scoring about 18 points.

That was Shover's team and they were missing two bigs all weekend due to injury. One of the kids missing was their leading scorer and rebounder. The other was a 6'6 thicker, muscular kid who is the starting center. They would have beaten the Club Ohio team rather easily if everyone were there. Kunstek played ok... had most of his points from garbage rebounds because he often had a guard trying to box him out. Would love to see them play again because Club Ohio has some kids with big mouths on the court.

Who ate the two guys who were missing? I haven't heard much about Shining Stars and I've been reading up on the AAU teams.
