KY AAU Teams 2013

Featured Replies

Two big tournaments this weekend with the Adidas Tourny in Indy and the King James in Akron. I believe the NKY Bulldogs are going to Indy. Anybody else going to either tourney?

The 14U Kentucky Select team will be playing in the King James tourney in Akron.

ALL mentioned are and will be very good players. But it begs the question of how we are defining "best?" Are we talking who would you want on your team today or perhaps who had the best year? OR who will likely be "best" at the next level/who has the most upside? For instance, if you watched the Richie Farmer-Allan Houston showdown back in the day, perhaps even looked at their seasons, you could have argued Farmer was the better of the two. However, I don't think anyone would've questioned who would be better at the next level. This was due to his (Houston's) advantages in size/length,athleticism and overall skill (I.e. ballhandling). One could argue that there are perhaps "better" freshmen in the state than Goodin, but not if you are talking about potential to play at the next level. IMO he's clearly the best by that measurement. Often, when talking about middle schoolers through Soph, the "best" kids matured early, in terms of both height and strength. If they are mostly "done" maturing, can they play their respective position at the D1 level, D2 level, etc? Right or wrong, that's how I look at potential/whose best. And Goodin, even if he's done maturing, already has the size and athleticism (and a nice skill set too) to play at a D1 level given the position he plays.

I have seen Dow and Beverly. I have yet to see Goodin play so I can't really make an accurate assessment of who is the best freshman. I hadn't heard of him until after the season over. I look forward to watching him play one day so I can make a better assessment.

Hopefully I'll see him at the Ky State AAU tourney in a few weeks.

TBC Elite will be playing in King James.

Please keep us updated on those 3 local teams this weekend, TBC Elite, NKY Bulldogs, and Kentucky Select. Where are the local Shining Stars teams playing?

Lots of NCAA events starting to take off as we are into the swing of summer/AAU ball. Love it.

Derby State Thoroughbreds 14u is at the Eddie Ford Spring Classic in Louisville, NCAA certified event.

Derby State Racers 12u, are undefeated and won the King James Ice Breaker in Cincinnati earlier in the month travel to Akron for the King James Tournament.

The bald kid from St Henry' date=' what year is he in?[/quote']

NVM, I found it.

TBC Elite won their pool game over Ohio Elite to make the gold bracket at King James. Next game is this morning at 915.

Only two teams per pool -- doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of pool play? IMHO, that tournament is way too crowded.

It was odd. Winner went to gold and loser went to bronze.

TBC won again today in double OT to make the Elite 8.

TBC win tonight in OT and play in semis tomorrow morning. Match up against VCC Ohio warriors who have Seth Towns (one of OH best in class of 16).

Hoop Dreams plays Texas Pro this morning in the semi finals of the Boo Williams Invitational.

They beat GA Stars last night by around 10-15 to advance behind 23 pts from Q Goodin, 13 from Malik Dow, and 11 from Carson Williams...very good team. Carson had 2 monster dunks in that game.

Purdue, Tennessee, and USA basketball were on hand for the game watching Goodin.

Yes, timberwolves. Lost today by 2. Really good weekend for this team.

Talked to Coach Sowder and he said TBC seemed to find their groove this week. Excellent guard play and bigs who can hurt you in different ways. It's a team with a lot of pieces that fit well together. He said that Coach Stapleton and he could not be more pleased with their guys this weekend.
