March 26, 201313 yr Report: Gay player ?strongly considering? coming out | ProFootballTalk At guess who or what team. I'm going to guess someone from the Bengals or 49ers.
March 26, 201313 yr It shouldn't matter. Somewhere around 10% of the population is homosexual. At that rate there are over 100 gay players in the league. I could deal with a gay team mate much easier than one that beat his girlfriend or killed someone as a drunk driver.

I could deal with a gay team mate much easier than one that beat his girlfriend or killed someone as a drunk driver. I'm going to guess that that percentage in the NFL doesn't fall in line with society's average. The uber-macho world of football likely purges out most homosexuals other than those most willing to hide who they are in pursuit of NFL glory.
March 27, 201313 yr Wasn't there a tight end from the 49ers who came out after his NFL days? I think that's a clue....
March 27, 201313 yr I don't remember who it was, maybe it was a guest on Mike & Mike a few weeks ago, but they said that whoever the first active NFL player to come out is going to make gobs of money in different promotional deals. Think that's true?

Think that's true? Darren Rovell says yes. Bomani Jones says no. I'm not sure. I can see yes and I can see no. Bomani says that the culture of the NFL locker room will cause that gay player to leave the game which would end any hands for endorsements. Rovell says he'll make money as folks will seem to capitalize on the new cultural phenomenon. I think it depends on the player. If Aaron Rodgers comes out then it will be accepted by the players a lot easier than a no name long snapper or an unknown player for the Arizona Cardinals.
