March 18, 201313 yr ...if they don't already. Correctly picked the 68 teams in the NCAA field. Meaning that he correctly picked the last 4 in. Correctly picked the four #1 seeds and the four #2 seeds. After the Miami ACC tourney win. Pretty impressive.

There is no way of knowing, but human nature being what it is...
March 18, 201313 yr Author My question is who doesn't take him seriously? He's almost dead on every year. Exactly. He rarely misses. I really start listening to him with a couple of weeks to go in the season.

March 18, 201313 yr He gets paid a big salary to be a "resident bracketologist." Shouldn't he come pretty close every year?
March 18, 201313 yr He gets paid a big salary to be a "resident bracketologist." Shouldn't he come pretty close every year? Dickie V and Bobby Knight and countless others get paid to be experts in college basketball and they still don't know what they're talking about.
March 18, 201313 yr Lunardi has to have inside info. My first thought as well. He has to have someone on the committee who lets him know the current thoughts of the committee.
March 18, 201313 yr If those stats are true, then it was a very good year for Joe. Statistically he's average at best. The Bracket Project - Ranking the Bracketologists
March 18, 201313 yr Impressive getting all 68. But I would guess others who do this like Jerry Palm probably are just as good. With all the info everyone has access to, most of us could get 64 of the 68 on a regular basis and maybe even better. EDIT: And there you go. Mobaar's link in the post above that was put up at the same time as mine proves my point.
March 18, 201313 yr Did anyone read on KSR where one of the guys went to a mock selection committee, very interesting and drawn out process.

Correctly picked the four #1 seeds and the four #2 seeds. After the Miami ACC tourney win. Pretty impressive. You are looking at it totally wrong. When it comes down to it he correctly selected the last 2-3 teams that got in to the tournament. The other 64-65 were no-brainers. There were 0 surprises in the bracket. Seth Davis got all of his correct as well. I think a lot of people did this year. He has access to a lot more formulas and models we are not privy to, but I guarantee on BGP we could have gotten 66 teams correct.
