March 28, 201313 yr I'm not 100% sure how it works it works with being drafted and then sent to the D-league what type of salary you will have. Player contracts for 1st round drafts in the NBA are guarenteed. You get paid whether your in the league or not. It's my understanding that is for all 3 years of the contract. So even if they cut you after drafting you they have to pay your full salary for all 3 years.

Rarely happens, but when it does that player is without a contract and has no salary. The decision is made after that players first year up to October of the following season for the 3rd year of the contract. In other words, you have to be Daniel Orton to not receive that salary. For instance: Daniel Orton salaries $1.028 million in 2010-2011 $1.105 million in 2011-2012 Option was not picked up: $854,000 in 2012-2013 with the Thunder. Had he been paid the option price, it would have been around $1.2 million.

This is "inside the Beltway politics" for most of us who are not in the game like you and Wireman. In other words, I get that it bothers you guys but to 99% of us it's no big deal. It's not like I'm staking a wager on some guy's tweet. If the guy is wrong who is it harming ? If you're not getting it directly from the kid then.... Again, I get it from your perspective but we don't have that perspective.
