April 3, 201313 yr I know I'm in the minority, but I still contend UK needed back Goodwin (and dare I say maybe Harrow) more than the other two which have decided to return. Having both back certainly helps, but the backcourt is thin with 0 experience. Last season the backcourt was thin, but Lamb at least had experience. I think WCS was the most important one to keep. After that, I wanted the other guys to stay but don't think we NEED any of them. Agreed on WCS. Dakari is going to be really good, but will be a 15-20 minute guy early. Having WCS to split time with at the 5 will be a huge plus in his development IMO... I am in that minority with you. Alex coming back really helps sure up the depth in the backcourt. They will still be young, but with Alex coming back it will open up more minutes in the backcourt for Young as opposed to strictly playing on the wing. Assuming Wiggins comes, you have Poythress to come in and give some minutes at the 3 and 4 (with Wiltjer/Lee), and Young to come in and get minutes at the 2/3. Even if Wiggins doesn't come, you still have at least Poythress or Young to come off the bench and give some minutes so that helps the backcourt situation a ton. With at least one of Alex/Archie coming back (and maybe even without it) WCS was the most important piece. Just his skill set alone is going to make this team very dangerous. He is basically what Dakari isn't, and Dakari is what WCS isn't. They compliment each other real well. As alluded to, Dakari isn't all the way ready to be "the guy" down low. Having Willie there to allow him time to grow will work wonders for his game. I may be mistaken, but I think Dakari probably lost out on a year of ball by reclassifying. I know he had to sit out a year when transferring to Montverde but I'm not sure if he made the jump back to his original class or if he had to lose a full year when he reclassified. Even though he has always played on good teams with terrific talent, losing a year is still losing a year of development. Having WCS there to help bring him along is going to be a nice comfort.

I could see Dakari Johnson being an energy guy off the bench, coming in and blocking shots, grabbing rebounds, and putting in some dunks. Kentucky's big men under Calipari all seem to improve as the season progresses so perhaps by the end of the year, Johnson could be a very reliable option. Of course I'm also anticipating Cauley-Stein makes improvements like Josh Harrellson did (maybe not three-point shooting, but everything else), which would take pressure off of Johnson to be an immediate star.

Really anywhere but UNC. If Hairston and McAdoo come back you could argue with Wiggins UNC could potentially win a lot next season. Kansas is basically losing everybody so not seeing an abundance of wins for them (even though Self usually pulls it out). I'm really hoping he ends up at UK, but depending on UNC's guys going pro they could put together a nice little team next season with Wiggins' help.

Yeah I think Dakari will be tough to handle at the end of the season, just may not be what a lot of people are expecting him to be at the start of the season. Without WCS or Noel coming back he just wasn't ready to be the sole force down low. I like him a lot better at 15-20 mins a game as opposed to 30+. By seasons end he will probably be ready for those big time minutes, but I like the fact Kentucky will have an experienced (and full of talent and potential) big man to help bring him along next season.
