In one of the coldest shooting days for Dominique I've ever watched, he still outscored Bolden. Again I'll say Bolden is a nice player, but you're all wrong on Hawkins. Bolden is naturally going to have more turnovers since he has the ball in his hands more. Regardless, Holmes going 8-13 from the ft line had a lot more to do with them losing than Bolden's turnovers. Coach mentioned in the post game that they missed some ft's down the stretch that could've put the game away, as well.

Wow what a great game it was! Both Beetle and Hawkins were worth the price of admission. Both score a bunch. Both lead their teams! Only diff was the turnovers. I think Beetle made 8? Your point guard can't do that and expect to win. But they still almost did. But again he's just a soph. He has two more years. He's that good!

Bosley and Hawkins made it tough for Holmes to defend M2M...not because they weren't quick enough but because those two were so strong going to the rim. Those two combined for 54 of MC 65 points.

 

Regardless of the magnitude of this game, it is tough to swallow because I didn't walk away thinking MC was a better team. MIssed ft's has nothing to do with what MC was doing.

 

Had Holmes won this game, they are playing Sunday in the state championship against Ballard...no doubt in my mind. Just like I think we will now see MC in the state finals on Sunday.

The debate about "who is better" will be answered by which colleges offer each kid. Simple as that. I know who my money is on

 

For me, it will depend on which of these young men make a positive impact on those around them, more so off the court, then on it.

Holmes 8-13 from the line. That's 62%. What does Holmes usually shoot from the line? 62% is not horrible. If Holmes had gone 5-13, I could see all the moaning.

 

Second, if they do hit one more free throw that doesn't mean they win the game. Everything in the game changes from that point on and who knows what happens.

 

In a game like that, both teams can point to 10 plays, missed free throws, ref calls, etc. that could have made a difference. Both teams put it all out there. Both teams made plays. Madison Central has one more great player than Holmes and because of that they won the game.

 

Finally, all the claiming "my dad is stronger than your dad" stuff between Bolden and Hawkins is wasted energy. Both are excellent players and each player's fans are going to say their guy is the best. If you asked me to choose between the two, I would have to flip a coin.

I know it hurts after a loss like that, your'e not alone my friend. Other teams had the same empty feeling this post season.
