Go back and read the prediction thread on BGP and tell me where "everyone" said Holmes would get blown out. I don't think anyone I know of said that.

IDK about this one 07. James is reallllly good, but the Hawkins kid is really good, too. He'll probably be better than Hawkins when all is said and done, but 30x? C'mon now. Sometimes we have to give credit where credit is due - MC won and Holmes played an outstanding game.

Bolden may be 30 times better when his HS career is all said and done, but today he wwasn't 30 times better. Just give the kids their due. Both were great today and Hawkins was not as bad as you claim him to be.

 

As far as the officiating, I hate when they don't let the kids on the floor decide the gaame and if that was the case in today's game all I can say is unfortunatley it woulnd't of been the first time this post season.

 

Congrats to two great teams and Bolden will be a blast to follow the next 2 years. Hope he is on Cal's radar because I'd love for him to follow in Dickie's footsteps and play for the Cats.

I guess so. Kid missed two and was awarded a third, which he made to make if a 4 point game. Pretty important call, and I don't think it fits within the confines of a "correctable error", but I've been wrong before, and there's a pretty good chance I'll be wrong again someday...

Correct. I saw someone predict a 15-point Madison Central win & another picked a 14-point win. Everyone else basically talked about how great of a game it would be. The majority was proven right.

Really good game by both teams. Kids played hard and left it on the floor.

Hawkins and Beetle can both flat out play. Good Luck to MC the rest of the way.

Congrats to Holmes on a great season. The next 2 years are going to be exciing in Covington wathcing this young man play.

I would agree that Bolden and Hawkins both were worthy of all the accolades today, although both had flaws exposed IMO. Bolden lost it or had it taken away a few times - kid's got a great handle, but sometimes defenders have pretty quick hands and feet and you need to adjust. I would bet that's the most he's ever turned the ball over like that in a game. Hawkins showed great range and composure draining those two 3's late in regulation, but other than that his points were pretty much confined to free throws and forceful takes to the basket that I frankly thought he got bailed out on several times and which, late in the game, Holmes did almost nothing to defend, probably because everytime he got into the paint there was a foul called.
