Boldens points aren't a telling statistic of how he played today...I have been to a dozen Holmes games this year and he's a stud...they through double and triple teams at him all day and he did a great job of holding onto the ball and slicing through the pressure...his handles are unreal and he was getting hacked quite abit today as well, but I thought the officials were consistent in letting them played and I didn't have a problem...was hoping cal would stick around for the Holmes game but hopefully he'll be there to watch Hawkins again on Friday...my personal opinion is that Madison has better guard play than prp but prp has much more size and killer athleticism...IMO the Madison game should be an easier game if their is such a game for Holmes...Madison has one really athletic big guy but they don't feed the post so Chames and engelmon should be able to escape foul trouble and I could see Madison's big guy getting in foul trouble trying to rebound over Chames and engelmon...engelmon gets up higher than anyone I have ever seen for his size...

Been there, done that.

Just got back from Rupp Arena...Costin stepped up big and Duke was killing the boards. Great game Bulldogs, did not much care for the officiating.

It is always nice to see a win for that weak 9th region where they don't play high level basketball and only care about football. :whistling: Sorry, couldn't resist.

Truly a big win for Holmes, especially with the off day for Bolden. They don't get any easier, that's for sure. But Holmes has probably already played through the toughest post season set of games of any team in the tourney, including the Louisville teams - Cov Cath (district final), New Cath (All A champ in regional game 1), then Cooper (a top 4 team in N. Ky. all year), Cov Cath again, PRP. Has anyone else played 5 straight that tough? The Bulldogs are battle tested, athletic, great PG, shooters and rebounders. Friday's game should be a good one.

Coston with 23, player of the game. Frankly, I'd have voted or Englemon.

So the Ninth Region in beating a Sixth Region team, isn't so bad?

PRP couldn't hit a shot from outside in the 1st half while Holmes made plenty and I honestly think playing in the BOKC helped them. Holmes indeed looked good but I am worried about them playing Madison Central and stopping Hawkins, that young man was impressive today!

BTW for you old guys like me. Can't tell you when the last time I had such a great time talking to a gentlemen from back in our days on a chance meeting.

Today because my employer was closed I went to the games and while sitting in the lower arena two black gentlemen came and sat next to me while watching the Madison Central vs. Wayne County game. We got talking about the players and the game and one thing led to another when we got around to talking about the current Holmes team and I told him I remember some Holmes teams who were better and mentioned Leo Foster and Big Bob Burns, who just happened to be one of the two gentlemen that sat next to me. We must have gone on talking about the old days of Ninth Region and 34th District games for the entire second half of the game and laughed and laughed about each other stories from back in the day.

Can't tell you the last time I had so much fun by chance meeting!

Since my electric went out last night and was unable to change my avatar, I will stick with this avatar & location until the Dawgs lose.

........Which might not be until 2015.

^ TOG ... that is what makes the Sweet 16 so great. Everybody loves basketball and loves talking it. Good story and I am glad the weather worked out for you. :thumb:

Coston stepped up big hitting 5 open threes created because of all the attention on Bolden. Englemon a rebounding machine. Where are all the "Holmes played a weak schedule" "PRP coming out of Louisville will be to tough for Holmes" proponents. PRP extremenly athletic but I bet they didn't score more than 5 baskets off of set offense. Holmes much more disciplined. Too hard to know how good Madison Central is as they played an inferior opponent today. Should be a good game Friday.

Likewise, back home after seeing the game live. Impressed with Chames' and Englemon's ability to hold their own down low vs. PRP's big big men. Bolden didn't shoot real well today but he had some dazzling assists. PRP mostly struggled from outside except for the two treys late in the fourth quarter. Seniors really stepped up for the Dogs today.

He sure is fun to watch. I think he falls in love with the dribble a bit much, but considering their offense starts with his penetration it's understandable.

They looked good, and played as a team Walter. Holmes will be a tough out if Coston and Plamer keep hitting from outside and as I said before I think playing at the BOKC big wide open gym helps!
