He sure is fun to watch. I think he falls in love with the dribble a bit much, but considering their offense starts with his penetration it's understandable.

Some folks just can't let stuff go sometimes.

So the Ninth Region in beating a Sixth Region team, isn't so bad?

PRP couldn't hit a shot from outside in the 1st half while Holmes made plenty and I honestly think playing in the BOKC helped them. Holmes indeed looked good but I am worried about them playing Madison Central and stopping Hawkins, that young man was impressive today!

BTW for you old guys like me. Can't tell you when the last time I had such a great time talking to a gentlemen from back in our days on a chance meeting.

Today because my employer was closed I went to the games and while sitting in the lower arena two black gentlemen came and sat next to me while watching the Madison Central vs. Wayne County game. We got talking about the players and the game and one thing led to another when we got around to talking about the current Holmes team and I told him I remember some Holmes teams who were better and mentioned Leo Foster and Big Bob Burns, who just happened to be one of the two gentlemen that sat next to me. We must have gone on talking about the old days of Ninth Region and 34th District games for the entire second half of the game and laughed and laughed about each other stories from back in the day.

Can't tell you the last time I had so much fun by chance meeting!

Why is the color of their skin relevant to the discussion? You must not get out much if the only time you see black gentlemen is when Holmes is involved. And in the lower arena too!!!!!! They probably got their tickets free too, I bet. Well, you are an old guy.

I tell you what......NKY just keeps getting better and better.

I think Bolden had at least 3 blocks.

My stats came from the official khsaa stat person. They gave me the sheet after the game in the media room.

I was most impressed by Bolden's shot. He handles it well, obviously, but I think Holmes could fare even better if they got him looks without having him have to create his own space. Of course, this is only having seen them play one time. He was a very smooth shooter, not sure what I expected, but his release is very smooth.

Walter has hit the "BIGTIME", Press Row and now the Media Room. :lol2:

In all seriousness, you deserve it, you do a GREAT job. :ylsuper:

I don't have a dog in your discussion, but you did say a slew of negative things about the 9th this year. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure if PRP had won today you would have lobbed a comment in TOG's direction.

Lucky for you, Friday you'll look like a prophet. Ha!

See I knew Holmes, CovCath, NCC and Cooper were pretty good teams this year and were as good or better than most in the Commonwealth.

Would any of them win the KHSAA this year? Most probably not but we of the Ninth aren't nearly as bad you seem to think they were this year.

Looking forward to the Holmes vs Madison Central game (have staff training that day so I won't get to attend) as MC was the best team and had the best player I saw this year. Prewitt of MoCo is good but not as good as Hawkins and MoCo isn't as deep or strong IHMO as MC.

If Palmer and Coston can hit the outside shots and Englemon, Chames and Hill keep out of foul trouble and grab some boards, it will be a great game!

The winner of this game plays Ballard and get to listen to the outstanding CovCath Chamber Choir singing My Old Ky Home and the National Anthem in the Championship game on Sunday!

Thanks, LB. I was fortunate enough to meet a lot of great people today, including Joe B. Hall. Had about a 10 minute convo with him about Bolden and Holmes. He is full of knowledge and absolutely lights up when you get him talking about basketball.

Obviously it was relevant to theoldguy, anyway he is stating FACTS, so what's the big deal? Your insinuation that it is something else is a joke. :ohbrother:

Something to think about that Booher brought up in the post game interview...Holmes was picked preseason #4 in the region.

After doing their team preview, I tried telling everyone that no way they were the 4th best team in the region and would give Newcath everything they wanted and more....glad this group lived up to the hype that I created at the beginning of the year. They have more than exceeded expectations and continue to get better. I can't stress enough how good of a group of kids this years' version of Holmes is. Hoping the ride will continue after Friday. If they can get by MC, I really like their chances of advancing to the state title game against Ballard.

One game at a time.

Saying "I don't think they are as good as you think they are" is far from a 'slew of negative things said about the 9th'. Fact is BGP put out their rankings one week, Holmes, CCH and NCC wasn't in it and folks got mad about it. In the weeks following that particular week not only did all 3 teams eventually get ranked Holmes ascended in the rankings rapidly. Funny how when folks are given enough time they can get more info and put out what they hope is the most accurate rankings in the state. Unfortunately some people hold grudges and can't let stuff go.

Spin has had more than one opportunity to 'lob comments' at the TOG but TOG is always the first to lob comments at Spin and other moderators and their intellect. Publicly and privately.

Okay. I'll be sure to make note of the color of everyone's skin around me and report on it from now on. Like he couldn't have just said gentlemen. he said it like he should receive a diversity award or something for taking the time to sit next to and talk to two black gentlemen. He obviously doesn't get that opportunity that much.

Fellas, that's all part of doing rankings. Some get upset, it's the nature of the thing. For the record, I'd like to just ask an honest question, had PRP not upset Bullitt East, how many of you think that the outcome of this game would have been similar? I do not.

I'll be the first to congratulate Holmes. They played very well today. But the thin skinned barbs in threads don't say much for fans when someone has something less than glowing to say. I'd love to see Holmes advance, but I have a hard time seeing that happen next round, and it would take a very special game from them to do so.
