March 8, 201313 yr I usually use a basic strategy card. You can buy a set (one for each table scenario) online or in many casino gift shops. The dealers don't care if you use one, but it's polite to ask anyway. Just don't put it on the table; they don't like that at all. These cards are helpful but just ask the dealer what to do, they know these cards by heart. These strategy cards say always split aces and eights, even if the dealer has a face card showing. You should always assume that the dealer has a 10 or face card down. So, if the dealer has a card up as a ten, then you assume the dealer has 20,correct. Now, if you split 8"s and get 2 ten value cards, then you have two 18's versus the dealers 20. You are now playing 2 hands ,instead of 1 against the dealers 20. I personally don't split 8"s against the dealers up card if it is a 10 value card or an ace, I just take a hit and hope for the best.I"d rather lose 1 hand to a 20 ,not 2, but that's just me. March 9, 201313 yr Do they allow surrender? Just for the people that doesn't know what"surrender " is, you can take back half of your bet(therefor losing half of your bet) after seeing the dealers up card and looking at your own hand,(your hand is now dead).Some surrender all the time and some never surrender, I never surrender. I have talked to regulars that do surrender and asked "how do you know what hand to surrender"? They say they go by their gut feeling,or how the cards are running. My take on surrender is that if the casino is offering it , it can't be to the advantage of the players. Rising Star offers surrender on about half of the BJ tables. I've heard nothing negative about the Horseshoe, any updates?

Can anyone tell me how stupid this idea is? Your play is not stupid,but there are better ways and options. It's your money play like you want to play. I know several high rollers(no pun intended) and they gave me a good strategy. The so called pros told me a good strategy that may not always work to win but can keep you in the game longer before going broke. We will say the min. bet is $10. Bet #10 on the first hand, if you win that hand bet $15 on the next hand , if you win that hand, bet $20 on the next and so on til you lose a hand. After losing a hand start the sequence over again by betting $10 and hope you can get another streak going. Blackjack is a steaky game, you usually win a few in a row then you lose a few in a row .The worst night I have ever had at the BJ table was a few years back, I lost ten hands in a row, but I did not up my bet, so I didn't lose my shirt. I would have changed tables after losing four in a row but the place was packed so I couldn't change tables. Also if you start on a losing streak, your only losing the minimum table limit of $10. Your system will work if you have a big enough bankroll to start with,and can win some hands to keep you going. Good Luck !!!

If they are just a little wise, it won't take much to be better than the Horseshoe. Pinnacle owns River Downs and the Beltarra Casino. We have had season reserve seats in the clubhouse for decades. When Pinnacle bought RD, things went down hill fast. The first thing they did was eliminate the xtra large sodas because people would sip on them all day long without the need to purchase more drinks. For years we went there and would buy a bottle of water with a glass of ice on the way in. So one day we went in and bought the bottle of water and the cashier said "2 dollars for the water and 4 dollars for the glass of ice."So I then went to the concession stand in the grandstand, and asked for a glass of ice. The lady said "we can't give you a glass of ice,but if you buy a bottle of water ,you can get the glass of ice free". This is a true story!!! When I got home I wrote a letter about my experience with the glass of ice issue. After a short time the glass of ice was "free" again. Imagine that.
