I was pleasantly surprised. Tried to eat at Binion's but they weren't seating without reservations. Margaritaville and Bobby Flays place were also packed, so we ended up at the buffet. Pretty standard fare there, and while not amazing, it was a pretty solid value. Spent a little time at the Rock Bar. $7.50 for a Knob Creek/Diet Coke. Blanton's was $10.50. Well drinks were $6, so you might as well spring for the pretty good stuff. The live entertainment was a guy with his guitar, and he was pretty good. Tables were full, so I played slots, burnt through $60 and called it a night. I have no concerns about safety. The parking area was well lit, and plenty of security.

The worst we had was at O'sheas in Vegas. 4 of us were on a streak that would not end. They changed dealer 2 or 3 times while we where sitting. They finally brought in the nasty Asian dealer with the pit boss just staring at us over his shoulder. I guess his specialty was dealing cards so hard they bruised your knuckles. They thought we were cheating somehow - but we do not even know the other couple - just a long, long run for the players side. We got the message though - leave. We finally just colored up and cash out. The book does have a section on 'heat management'. It is interesting how the friendly, chatty dealing will get replaced with the stone face dealer when you are on a streak.

O'Shea's was a training place for Harrah's employees where a lot of drunk low limit players played. Pit bosses were probably scared they would not get promoted if someone beat them bad. Funny you mentioned that as I had a bad experience on a heater on the roulette wheel there several years ago!

March 17, 201313 yr I went to the casino the first weekend it was over and I won't be back for awhile. Way too many gang bangers, instead of over-the-Rhine shootings, they will migrate to the horseshoe. The best to go is early in the morning during the week where it isn't packed. Place smelled like weed, and was offered drugs a few times. The crime will only raise up, especially here. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few shootings in the casino by this years end. It was that bad if u follow me. I would rather travel to Indiana, at least I won't have to watch my back. ONLY IN CINCY!! Great location idiots. I just saw a bunch of gang bangers walking around, and known of them spending money or gambling. It's all bad, jus sayin....
March 17, 201313 yr I went yesterday afternoon. Several $10.00 blackjack tables available. We ate at Bobby Flay's. Good burger, but I hate the way it is organized. You order your food, then try to find a table and they bring your food to you. Very crowded with lots of people just trying to get a seat. People hovering over you while you eat hoping you are getting up soon.

Played blackjack at a $15 table for about 90 minutes. The two dealers we had were very courteous but were very green. They each made numerous mistakes. The basic paying of money was not a given. Our main dealer made at least 7 pay errors at the table when I was there. Twice he tried to pay me when we pushed. I was too honest to let him - bad karma too! Once when he had 17, he tried to pay a lady who had 15. The pit boss caught him though. Twice he tried to take money from another guy when they had pushed - he made mistakes both ways. They found blood on a card and that created a 10 minute delay. The pit boss thought someone was marking the cards and asked if any of our hands were bleeding. We all told him WE don't ever touch the cards! They replaced the shoe and watching our dealer actually shuffle the cards was painful. Did not look like a true BJ dealer. Luckily, I was winning - won $100 for the evening so I overlooked all the mistakes. Another thing that I found strange was that when I bought a drink from a table server, I could not pay her with chips. I found that strange - had to pay her in cash. I was going to give her a 5 and 2.50 chip for my $5 drink but when I had to pay cash I just gave her $6 instead. I bet the servers hate that because it has to cost them in tips. I felt safe coming and going but it was not dark yet. Overall, I like the place but the dealers need to step their game up considerably.

Pit bosses were probably scared they would not get promoted if someone beat them bad. Funny you mentioned that as I had a bad experience on a heater on the roulette wheel there several years ago! Yeah, its a 'training' place. But a lot of the dealers were just having learn the procedures and usually were pretty good. Since you have a lot of newbies and walk-ins if you show them you are playing basic strategy they just play your cards for you after a few rounds. Last time there I was alone on a $10 table with a single deck. Fish in a barrel. Just kept tipping well to keep her dealing to the bottom while keeping true count. Doubled up easily by the time the wife showed up.
