Holmes 40 Cooper 39 OT

I could clearly see the coach request timeout prior to the 5 count whistle being blown. Granted the TO ref might not have blown his whistle before the 5 count whistle but the request was made to the ref standing nearest to the coach clearly before the whistle for the 5 count.

You are correct that the acknowledgement of the TO always comes before the whistle is blown. So the fact that it blew after the 5-second call doesn't negate it. It just gives the other coach something to question.

Come on man...no way refs won or lost this game for either team.

If you want to play that game, though, if they don't call Chames for a walk when he was pushed and didn't even have possession going for a loose ball, Cooper probably doesn't even get the opportunity for the Collins 3 to tie the game as that foul would've sent Holmes to the line up 3 with under a min to go.

There are a lot of head scratchers both ways and while I agree that was bad, refs didn't win or lose this game for either team.

You mean to tell me he didn't walk I was sitting on the Holmes side during this game and everyone around me manage to agree he did walk if your going to call that tap he got while being boxed out we might as well start playing YMCA basketball leagues again! Another thing the phantom foul once again had Holmes fans stating and I quote "what was the foul there!" Bolden carrying the basketball majority of the time he has it goes uncalled way to much, don't get me wrong the kid is one heck of a player and is very clutch but carries a lot! And the intentional foul that went uncalled was absolutely terrible that gives cooper two shots and the ball late big change of events had the officials got that call right!

Understand you are a Cooper fan and disappointed your team lost, rightfully so, but I'm going to have to respectfully disagree that the refs handed Holmes this game. If Bolden doesn't hit that game winning 3, I can almost guarantee none of you are bringing up officiating. I can promise I wouldn't have as the calls I mentioned are the only ones that stood out to me going against Holmes and NONE impacted the outcome.

Actually I was goping to comment onhow bad the officiating was in the 4th period no matter who won.

The officiating was consistent and I thought the bad calls pretty much were even until the last 6 minutes when they struggled and therefore became the focal point. They hit rough stretch where the majority of the bad calls went against Cooper (in fact about a string of 5) which I'm sure will upset the Cooper fans. The phantom foul out front led to a 1 and 1 which Holmes missed but then got away with a pushoff under the basket on the rebound. From there it kind of got worse. I think they missed an obviously carry on the final possession of regulation by Bolden when he put the ball behind his back and then lost control and carried it over but he missed the shot so it was quickly forgotten.

Of all the calls today, this was the biggest "head-scratcher" of them all.

Where is the lady ref from the 16th that has worked previous 9th region tourneys? She was far better than these guys.

She is officiating at the college level now, and yes she was a good official.

Welcome to our world guys with the officiating. Ninth region officials were much better with the exception of Pouncy he is by far the worst I have ever seen in 41 years of watching basketball.

Mr. Pouncy is one of the best, if not the best.

Pouncy is the best official in the 9th. You don't ref 2 Boys and 1 Girls State Championships by being the worst ref in your region. This really has nothing to do with this thread but thought I would make that point.

As for today's officials it is what it is but for Cooper to only shoot 7 free throws to Holmes 15 and the foul count to be 9-3 with 3 mins to play in the game makes one scratch their head. Cooper had its chances but it just didnt work out. It took a great shot by a great player to make a great shot so I tip my hat to the dogs and wish them luck. I will say that many things were exposed with the dogs today.

My opinion will never change on Mr. Pouncy, I believe he cost Rowan Co. a state championship a few years ago.

Agree, If Cooper doesn't miss about 4-5 "gimmes" from point blank range there is no OT and the 'Dawgs season is over.

I am not sure so someone correct if I am wrong, but it seems to me Holmes usually has fewer fouls called on them than their opponent. It is the nature of their game and the way they play on both ends of the floor.

LB, I just can't get used to that being you with that avatar.

Tuesday March 5th at 10:01 p.m. we are back to normal, I lost a bet and this was the winner's reward.
